Pizza by the slice

There's sooooo much I could say about Costco pizza but will stick to the topic at hand, LOL.
A "pro" knows how to cut 8 even slices if that's the way the pie is served. Half, quarter than 2 diagonal cuts and done.
At home, I use a chef's knife to cut since to my mind a pizza cutter is too specialised a tool for my kitchen's size.
Glad you got the right sized slices ultimately.
I have 3 pizza cutters. I use my chef's knife as well. Works much better than pulling all the cheese off running a pizza cutter through it.

I've only seen Sicilian pies sliced into squares or rectangles, not regular round pies. I have never seen a slice of pizza from a regular pizzeria sliced so unevenly that it's even noticeable.

Why is a round pizza cut into triangles and then put into a square box? 🤔
Because square cardboard boxes are easier and cheaper to manufacture and for employees to fold together than round ones.

Besides, do we really want to unleash round boxes on certified Dominos life timers.
I don't think they can handle it.

I've never noticed it when buying a slice. Sometimes when I buy a whole our the slices are slightly uneven. The only square or rectangular pieces I've had are from square or rectangular pies, like Sicilian or Grandma.

Round pizza cut into squares is very common around here. Most "local" places seem to do it that way. I can only think of one that doesn't. The national chains (pizza hut, domino's, papa john's, etc.) cut triangles and sometimes the pieces are uneven, but it doesn't bother me because people might be in the mood for a "small piece."

There aren't many places that sell by-the-slice around here. I can only think of one local place (and they do cut it in triangles for by-the-slice). I've only bought it by-the-slice once, but I felt like the slices were relatively even. The only other places that I can think of that sell by-the-slice are Sbarro at the mall and Whole Foods. I haven't had complaints about mismatched sizes either place. (I've seen them cut it at Whole Foods and they haven't used a guide... but they've done a pretty good job of getting equal pieces -- at least equal enough that I wouldn't complain.)

Technically their boxes are hexagonal. Probably to keep it from sloshing around as well as reducing heat loss. They had an octagonal box for a while. Dominos even had patents on their box design.

I don't mind different size slices as there is always the need for that last slice but it has to be smaller.
I moved away form the Bay Area and miss Pizza My Heart!!!!!!!

I complain when I'm paying the same price as anyone else and I get half as much.
I see you need to read Uncle Arthur's Bedtime Stories, the Hollow Pie.

Technically yes but let us not pretend their boxes are shaped like this.

Technically a hexagon but again mostly rectangular with two small cuts out of it to make it an irregular hexagon.

In my area, the Italian restaurants always cut SQUARES for THIN crust pizza, but slices for thicker crust. I notice the chains like Little Caesars, Dominos, they only do slices.
Frozen pizza in my house is always cut in slices, too.
Chicago thin crust is always cut into squares. (for those discussing squares)View attachment 471433

Midwest, square-cut, thin crust pizza is the BEST pizza. I crave it SO much, allllll the time.

Not an equilateral hexagon, but still a hexagon.

It's not equiangular either. Again it's not even close to a regular hexagon.
And further, my first statement you quoted asked if we wanted to unleash a circular box on them? Why take the joy out of the champion box folder's day? And that box is not anywhere close to a circle. It's much closer to a rectangle than a circle.

From grouching you didn't get the biggest slice to being obsessive over the shape of a box. Those would be good for that first world complaints thread awhile back.
