Had to share!!!!!! I neglected to upgrade my Disney Rewards Visa prior to several large Disney purchases this spring, including a cruise, which was the highest $$ and could have gotten 5% back on it.

I have been berating myself about it, realizing that I could have paid the $49 annual fee and STILL come out ahead (I *loathe* letting a good deal by). so I called last night and asked about being credited for the Disney cruise, and allowing my three months of 5% to start from the end of April (when the cruise was booked), even though I'd miss a month of the 5% extra rewards...the cruise value would more than make up for it. I was put on hold, then the rep came back and told me, no they could not do that. It was not possible. Well, it was a long shot-- but I tried. Decided not to upgrade then, since I wasn't sure it would be worth it (I also have Discover and Chase Freedom cards which are offering the same 5% on the gas, grocery and dining categories for most of this summer). Went to bed disappointed...:guilty:

Woke up this morning, did the figures :teacher: and decided I would still come out ahead, based on making Disney purchases during my WDW trip, cruise and paying for my Oct trip...maybe not AS good of a deal, but still. Call up Chase, am about to go ahead with the upgrade when the Disney gods whisper in my ear to ask again. I'm thinking, why ask...they already said no. But that little voice said to do it, and so I did....the rep passes me to a supervisor who I politely describe my request to, and she puts me on hold....and comes back to tell me, yes they will credit me the extra Disney rewards for the cruise charge, for this one time only, if I upgrade. Woooo HOOOOO :woohoo::banana::cheer2:

So then she proceeds to explain all the conditions etc etc yadda yadda and I ask so this means that my 3 months of bonus will be retroed back to the end of April as a start date, right? And she says no, it begins when your account has been officially upgraded in 3 business days, and you will receive 3 months from that time. What? I get the full three months too? :cool1: THANK YOU, CHASE LADY, YOU MADE MY DAY!!!!!!

Pixie magic, fairy dust...whatever it is, I got some! pixiedust: Just goes to show persistance pays off....or....don't always take no for an answer! :thumbsup2

:woohoo:I know exactly how you feel. Great job. Enjoy the vibes for as long as you can!!

Hmmm, maybe I should call and ask them to switch me from the offer I applied under last month to the one DH received in the mail today?

I had offer with $200 gift card and $49 annual fee - DH just received offer with $200 gift card and NO annual fee.

I want the no annual fee!!!

Do all DCL cruises booked with the upgraded Visa earn 5% back or is that just for a limited time?
Our Alaskan cruise alone would have covered the annual fee and then some. July & November cruises would be icing on the cake! :thumbsup2

I don't recall reading this or maybe I just didn't look beyond the annual fee.

The offer is 5% back on the 4 categories of Disney purchases, grocery, gas and dining for the first 3 months you have the card. After that, its 2% back on the same categories. So if you pay in full for your cruises and they are booked THROUGH Disney(or through a TA who books it directly through Disney-- has to say "DCL reservations" on your credit card statement) then yep, you are getting 5% back on them cruises!!!!!!!!!!!:cool1::banana::cool1:

OMGoodness! I would want that offer too!!!! $200 and no annual fee?? Is that for upgrading or signing up for a new card??? If its for a new card, you should sign up under your DH anyway! You can cancel before the year is up and pay nothing, and still get $200!

I am not sure which is better, the 5% back for 3 months or the $200. Depends on how much you spend in the 4 categories. To make $200 in rewards, you'd have to spend $4000 in 3 months, so if you were paying for a DCL cruise and/or a Disney trip and/or Disney AP's, you'd easily make that, plus all your dining, groceries and gas for those 3 months? You'd rack up the charges in that 3 months  but think of all the rewards!!! :yay:

It was for signing up for a new card.

We submitted the app online and got the old "we'll get back to you" rather than an approval - I'm guessing cuz he already has a card under mine and listed me as a second cardholder.

It would be great to get this one so I could close mine - and the gift cards would all but pay for our family cabana for our October cruise!

Guess we'll know soon enough!
