I hope its OK to post an older trip report here. If not I'm sure the moderators will move or delete.

I’m relatively new to these boards and have to thank everyone who shares so much good info. I can’t tell you all how much it helped planning our very first family trip to WDS this past October. As you can guess I have been meaning to write the trip report for months but as we know life gets in the way most days. Hopefully someone reads it and if not at least I have the trip memories down for our family! I enjoy reading trip reports but not everyone does. Probably much more fun to write. Thanks in advance for reading. Be patient the pixie dust eventually shows up!

By way of background I’ll fill you in on us. Travelers were
myself :surfweb:, husband :joker: and my sister :shamrock: all in our 40’s with our 8 year old (at the time) daughter :cutie:. Said Daughter seemed to have grown out of her Princess phase (the one where she wore her Cinderella ball gown till it was in tatters – looked more like pre-ball Cindy). Hannah Montana and the Jonas boys had helped that along. Her nickname has always been Pixie :tink:so she had recently started identifying with Tinkerbell. Couldn’t have anything to do with the release of the Tink movie the week we were there could it?

Mom here was one of those “What in the world do you want to go Disney for? That’s not a vacation! naysayers. Please note, I HAVE BEEN CONVERTED. I always was a Wonderful World of Disney and movie fan. I have VHS tapes over 20 years old from when they 1st began releasing the older catalog – so I guess I was half converted.

Last thing to know is hubby was in an ECV due to the stroke-like effects of cancer treatment. The rest of us were hoofing it for the week. When he was first diagnosed he told the doctors he wasn’t going anywhere because he had things to do - take his daughter to Disney and to teach her how to ride a two wheeler.

This was the very first trip for me, hubby and daughter. Sister had been on the trip from hell in the early ‘90s with 3 small children, pissed off spouse and the idiotic, self centered in-laws (story for another day).

We arrived on Saturday, 10/24 at the Polynesian. Too took the advice of many here on the boards and had quiet, resort day. Pixie and dad had a swim after check in while Mom got things situated. Sister just enjoyed having no one to look after, plan for, or chase down. We did the luau that night. Fun, kitschy, plentiful food, very Disney but don’t need to do again.

First day in the parks was Sunday 10/25 – Mom, Dad and Pixie. I scheduled us for the Disney Family Magic tour as our intro to MK. I was sure it would be a crowded, crazy tour but the pixie dust kicked in and we had exactly 6 people and the CM on the tour. Our threesome and another set of parents with a 9 year old girl. They appeared to be Disney vets/passholders so they took us under their wing and their daughter was great – she let ours try and figure out clues – didn’t hog the whole thing since she really knew the lay of the land. It was like a private tour – great intro to MK. Can’t say enough about the CM, Frankie from New Jersey – knowledgeable but a bit of a big kid himself. Only place on the planet this wary New Yorker had no qualms about letting her 8 year blonde headed daughter disappear into the crowd with a 20 something young man. We eventually found the 3 of them holding hands along Main Street looking for clues. Anywhere else I wound have beaten him with a stick! (or in my case a NY rebar). I won’t spoil the tour with any more info.

Finished the tour in Liberty Square and somehow the 8 year old who has never been to Disney just has to ride this very special ride her aunt told her is wonderful. Wouldn’t you know – It’s a Small World. My sister is still paying for that little prank. What with my hubby in the EVC we were allowed to use the wheelchair entrance and didn’t have to wait to long. He has stamina and mobility issues but he did stand in lines when he could or would meet us in the line when were closer to the entry. He was stubborn at first about the EVC but realized its worth during the tour.

Having survived the song and the ride we headed back to the Train station and lunch reservations at Tony’s. Checked in and went to find dad and the pixie.

While husband is parking his EVC in the area near the Exhibition Hall I was approached by a young man in blue shirt and khakis who asked how our 1st Visit was going (obviously we were wearing our buttons :)). My first thought was, WHO is this Guy and why do all these strangers feel the need to talk to you in WDW. Nobody does that in Grand Central Station! Before I knew what was happening he was asking my daughter who her favorite princess was and if we had some time for a special treat. Having no real idea about the pixie dusting the Year of a Million Dreams was doing we were a little surprised and confused. He asked us to follow him into the Exhibition Hall where he made a right down an empty hall way leading to a drapery screen and another CM.

Once stashed in front of one curtain and behind another one hiding us, the CM asked if we remembered the Fairy Godmother’s spell. Took Pixie a minute and a little help from the CM, but as soon as we repeated it as loud as we could the curtain dropped and there was Cinderella!!! A personal meet and greet, honest to goodness no sharing with anyone else, visit with Cinderella! pixiedust: Complete with Photopass photographer too. Talk about Pixie Dust! Can you pinpoint when I was converted about WDW? I just about cried while daughter and husband were flabbergasted. She made a bee line for Cinderella and got the biggest hug. Photopass guy caught the best picture. You know the smile that tells you they actually believe in the magic? Might not have been the look when she saw the Castle for the 1st time but this was better. Her favorite princess and this was just within 3 hours of her first visit to MK! Cinderella had a long conversation with Pixie with lots of hugs and pictures. No hurry and finish for the next group. OK, so Disney can do no wrong in my eyes after this.

Afterwards off to Tony’s for lunch. Once finished and picking up the EVC we ran into the Snow White meet & Greet (3rd kid on line) and then ran right into Pinocchio coming out to the Square for another Meet & Greet (4th kid on line). Thank the stars I listened to the posters here and had the Autograph Books purchased and ready with the camera.

There’s more but I’ll finish in another post. If you got this far thanks for reading.

You are more than welcome here.
Shoot, I could probably show you a Trip Report in progress
since 2007.
I think her user name has Blue on it,
I posted on her thread today and I thought she was talking about the summer of 2008 and it was 2007.

So it doesn't matter how old your TR is.

Do you have any pictures?

Thanks for the welcome! I have mmmaaannyyy pictures but I haven't figured out quite how to post them here. Have to work on that -think only Photobucket is allowed. Mine are all on Kodak gallery.

It's super easy to put them on photobucket. Just save all of your pictures as a document on your computer. Then, go to www.photobucket.com and register (it's free). Upload all of the photos and then click on your Album on the photobucket site. Under each picture, you will see three links. Copy the bottom link and come back to your report and paste that link. Click Submit Reply and :wizard: there's your picture.

Hope to read more!
