Kind if worried about "expecting" pixie dust. Reading on here about folks not getting towel animals and being disappointed or not getting room requests/locations or not getting early check in makes me realize how much pixie dust we HAVE gotten on our past trips without ever realizing it. A GREAT lake view room on the ground floor with a fabulous patio at the YC when we paid for standard view. Towel animals every nite (even incorporating my DDs 'blankie' and toys in them! Early check in 10am at YC & BWI without requesting in advance. I just hope our luck holds out this trip! Nervous about our first stay at a moderate (POR) and not being in our favorite the Epcot resorts.

I think just appreciating what we have and expecting exactly what we pay for is the key to success.

I'm tired of the complaints when people don't get extras. Would I like extras? Sure! Do I expect them or hope for them? Nope.

I agree. Just worried that we are spoiled!

I totally understand, we are also incredibly lucky:cool1: DD has had a magical moment every trip since started taking her. I even gave her a little talk before we went in January about how we can't expect a magical moment because they are very rare. Then the most magical moment of all happened on our last morning.... DD got to ride on the Teacups with Alice in Wonderland pixiedust: That definitely topped all the rest; being chosen as; Princess of the day at Beauty and the Beast, Honorary Princess at CRT and Captain of the Living Lands boat ride. In fact on our first night in Jan we went to 1900 Park Fare and the waiter brought DD a cupcake and a special plasticized placemat and told she was just so beautiful in her Cinderella dress that he couldn't resist and DD turned to me and said "See Mom THIS is my magical moment this year" and we all laughed about our good fortune. But after Alice ran towards my DD and grabbed her hands and asked if she would be her friend and ride on the Teacups with her, they held hands skipped their way to the ride, waited patiently for their turn to get on, rode the ride and then Alice asked DD to come with her to have her picture taken with her other friend "White Rabbit". We videoed and got pictures and the photopass photographer with Alice got a great picture of them on the Teacup that we had framed for tons of family. THAT was the most magical moment EVER for us and I doubt it will ever be topped or even matched. But when we were walking away from Alice that morning my DD said, "I knew I'd have a real magical moment Mommy, I always do" YIKES :upsidedow I give up, maybe we are just destined to have magical moments.

This is our 1st trip... Saved for years to take my 3 guys on this vaca! Staying @ POR for 7 nights & honestly, I'm so thankful I can do this.
I expect: clean room, polite & happy CM's, and if I have a problem the CMs do their best to help. As far as pixie dust I don't expect any extras. The magic of WDW is simply enough to blow us away!

Anything that's important to me, I pay for.

I don't count on pixie dust to make my vacation. I appreciate it when I get it, but don't worry about it ahead of time.

pixie dust is where you find it.

POR is a very wonderfully and special place for me - it was where we (I paid) took my niece and nephew for their first trip - of course their parents had to come too.

later paid for them to go to the Polyn (this is where grandmother use to take us - so for my brother it was special)

if you go with the attitude that this is a deluxe you will be disappointed. It has one of the best food courts and arcade onsite. what I like about it - is the multiple swimming pools - now it only has one slide and one hot tub at the main pool - but the community pools are excellent and generally less crowded than the main one.

you can walk to POFQ if you want a change.

the boat to DD is at the marina -you can also rent boats and bikes here.

look around - this place has lots of little things - look down on your way to the main pool (and sometimes the food court).

in the food court the water wheel.

TOTALLY agree. If you want extras, pay for them like everybody else. Don't go in expecting anything extra; you're not entitled to it. This way, if you get a little pixie dust thrown your way, you'll appreciate it so much more! pixiedust:

The only pixie dust I'm really hoping for is my room request. We booked BC and really really really hope for a full balcony. Which I gather is about a 50/50 shot there. We could have booked a different resort with a guaranteed balcony, but none of the others appealed to me like the Beach Club so we are taking our chances.

We had our first ever disney vacation at POR too. It was truly amazing. We were fortunate to meet so many wonderful staff members and housekeeping was amazing!

Did you meet Birdy, the door greeter. He was amazing with my son. Loved him.

I just want to share a tip about having special experiences at disney. Last year we made sure to go to the front desk and Guest services in the parks when an employee of Disney did something special for us. We let them know the name of the employee and the special treatment they provided and how appreciative we were. Apparently, these comments will go into the employee's file. The people at guest services told us these comments actually help the employee when they are trying to move up into better positions.

Disney employees deserve a little pixie dust too! pixiedust:

Last year, my husband ended up in the ER the night before we were due to leave WDW for home. They told him they were probably going to have to admit him.

I went to the Beach Club front desk in tears (I'm a crier by nature). He had a couple of thousand dollars worth of photo equipment (don't ask) and I had no idea how to pack it up for the flight home, as well as everything else we had to pack, in time for checkout the next morning.

The CM gave us an extension of a few hours in the morning, incredibly generous of her. Then, when our luck turned a bit, my husband was released at about 11 PM that night. He went down to the desk-- he wanted to ensure that when his prescription was delivered, they would let us know-- the CM covered his cab fare to and from the ER and gave us the room until our Magical Express bus arrived at 4 pm the next day.

They MADE our last day. They took a huge load off my mind, and gave us time to enjoy our last day-- we made rope drop, spent a few hours in the parks, then got back and checked out at 2 pm.

I wrote a letter and named, by name, the CMs who had been so helpful.

About 2 weeks later (after a 5 day stay in the hospital back home for my husband), Disney called to check in on him and thank us for the letter. And shortly after that, we got a lovely letter thanking us for our comments and letting us know that they would go into the files of the CMs we named.

No one does Customer Service like Disney!!!!

I feel pixie-dusted just to be able to go at all. Still have three weeks to wait....torture!

The fact that you are aware of how lucky you were in the past makes me think you won't be too upset by not getting a bunch of extras, if you happen not to.:)

Couldn't have said it better myself :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Just go with the mentality that you should receive at LEAST what you've paid for (as far as room type/view, dining plan, whatever) and anything above and beyond that is your pixie dust. pixiedust:

I remember back when the YOMD promo was going on I was reading other's accounts of receiving dream fast passes and mouse ears and different amazing displays of pixie dust and got SO excited for our trip! So when we got there, I had set my expectations so high that when we didn't receive any special moments I was terribly disappointed (bratty, I know lol). Flash forward to our trip this past November...I wanted to make sure that my two boys received an extra special pixie dust moment guaranteed! So I ordered the Mickeys Grand Welcome package to be delivered to our room. I told NOBODY...not even DH! To this day they think that we were randomly selected to receive this wonderful package! I have never spoken this to anyone before...it's liberating to get this off of my chest LOL! Anyhow it was a GREAT pixie dust moment that they will never forget! BTW, my youngest DS actually received a dream fastpass on his own at HS by winning a trivia contest! It was very exciting :)

I think it was a nice idea to make your own pixie dust for your family. I am sure it was hard to keep it a secret from even your hubby!

I also understand the worry. The last two years we've had the talk with both our sons, ages 10 and 8. They have been very fortunate with all the pixie dust they receive, trip after trip. My oldest as been fortunate to ride Dumbo with Stitch twice and Peter Pan on the carousel all in one trip. Stuff just happens with them, away from Disney to and their response is always one of amazement that they should be so fortunate.

I also make sure Tinker-bell visits our hotel room nightly to leave a little pixie dust and a small treat/prize ..... Just in case;)

I hope a little dust comes your way :goodvibes
