Mom met with her oncologist today.

They are going to do a MUGA scan on her heart first to make sure she can tolerate the chemo. They are doing 4 dose dense infusions of AC (4 infusions, 2 weeks apart) followed by 12 weekly infusions of Taxol. After that she will have radiation.

She has to have a port put in next week, and they will probably schedule her first infusion next week, too.

There is no way I can go up for her first infusion. I just hope it goes OK and that she doesn't feel horrible afterwards.

This is such unknown territory for me. I have no clue how she will feel during this process, or what I am supposed to do. I am staying on top of the medical aspects, but I am kind of stumped on what do do beyond that. I am thinking of assembling some sort of package for her but I need to think about what all to put in there. I call her frequently now, but I will step up the calls once her treatment starts. I want to make sure she is asking for help when she needs it.

Of course I am also looking at airfare out of Orlando in case we get to WDW and she has an emergency. Can we all say OUCH? If she needs me to be there I will go, at any cost. But those are some big old whomping numbers. I'll worry about that later. Plenty of other stuff to worry about now.
