Would on-line check in reduce the chances ( and I know it is remote) of a suprise upgrade?

Would on-line check in reduce the chances ( and I know it is remote) of a suprise upgrade?

No. The one time we were upgraded (from a standard room at the Contemporary to a 2-bedroom CL suite at the Contemporary), I had done online check-in. There's no real rhyme or reason other than Disney happens to have a room sitting empty & decides to make someone's day.

When we did online checkin, we got an upgrade from Poly garden view to Poly Club level garden view. The room was also ready when we arrived at 10 am.
That was really nice to say the least.
