Just returned from a week at Pop with DH, DS (who turned 8 on the trip) and DD who is turning 13 this week...what a great time!!!

The Magical Express bus dropped us off in front of POP, where a bubbly blonde castmember smiled and greeted us outside. The kids headed to the waiting area and I walked right up...no lines in September! The two castmembers (one in training) were awesome and efficient and noted that it was my son would be celebrating his birthday at Disney. Headed to our room in the 60's right by the pool and pool bar, near the Duncan staircases. Perfect view of the pool and right by everything!!!

Headed right over to MK...on the bus my son said "We are NOT eating until we get to hug Mickey!" and guess what? He was right at the entrance. I, of course, burst into tears of joy (our first trip, long-awaited) and Mickey gave us all a big hug. Took in Mainstreet and ate a dog at Casey's and watched "Cinderellabration". Trucked on to MGM where we had a fun meal at Prime Time with a funny waiter who yelled "Mazeltov!" when someone accidently dropped a tray of glasses. Went for a dip in the not-crowded pool and drifted into dreamland.

Day 2...Mickey and Stich woke us up on the phone and we headed to MK. The barbershop quartet asked us where we were from and my son said, "Chicago, we are here for my and my sister's birthdays!" and they sang "Happy Birthday!" and then (at my son's request) "Walking Right Down the Middle of Mainstreet USA". We walked onto all the rides...no waiting! Outside of Pirates, my son was greeted by Peter Pan and played swords with him. Had my (first in 13 years) Dole Whip float...yummy!!!! Headed to Ohana for the last day of the old menu...how awesome! My husband drained the ocean of shrimp. The kids had fun with the coconut races and the hula-hoops. The bread pudding with ice cream and bananas foster was pretty good. Headed back to POP, where our Mousekeeper friend made us two love birds, a Mickey toothbrush holder and posed all of my DS's stuffed animals at the table. How cute!

Day 3...Epcot. Never been there. Wow! That is a place to walk and walk and walk. Hotter than the proverbial oven. Rode Test Track 3 times in a row! I was picked to be in a focus group and received $100 Disney dollars and got to see the inside of the globe and eat yummy brownies and give Disney some feedback..hi, Eric! (My focus group buddy) Rode the boat over to France where Belle and Beast greeted us...and Princess Aurora, too! Was picked to be part of the street show in France and danced with the acrobats. Did all of the Kidcot stuff and a nice CM in Japan made my DD an oragami Pokemon guy. Rode the Maelstrom a few times, then headed to Le Cellier...boy, was that great. Awesome CM's fro0m Canada, just the nicest kids. Gave my kids stickers and played Canadian trivia with us that was wacky. Maryam our server was top notch and we both enjoyed the Surf and Turf. She even brought my DS a little, beautiful plate of chocolate mousse in an edible cup for his birthday. Back at Pop, my DS's stuffed animals were watching the tv. I stayed up late to decorate the room when all were asleep.

Day 4...DS's birthday!!!! He was surprised to see the room decorated. We headed to MGM early, but were a bit disappointed to see people already there. My DS was wearing a t-shirt my husband made that had a drawing of him and "Today is My 8th Birthday!" on it. An awesome CM at a kiosk outside of the park told my son, "There is a call here for you" and handed him the phone..it was Goofy to wish him a happy day. Then, another CM said, "How about you open the park for us?" WOW! More tears from me, but my son went off skipping hand in hand with the CM (Soula, I think was her name) and we went inside and they took our picture. We came skipping back to the front and they handed my DS the clapper and announced we were the first family and then we all yelled, "Lights, camera, action!" What a thrill! Everywhere my son went, people were magically toward him. A CM in the candy shop said, "Mickey left you a gift" and handed him a chocolate-covered marshmallow pop. Another CM gave him an ice cream cone. The street performers pulled him into their acts. Plus, he was excited to be big enough to ride Aerosmith!!! We headed to Chef Mickeys, where we all had fun. Chip and Dale chased him around and Donald brought out the cake. Back to Pop, drained...but, guess what? Balloons were in the room, plus a card with a photo signed by all the characters. I could go on and on, but enough for today....it got even better, believe it or not. I LOVE WDW!!!
