CBS' 60 Minutes II broadcast for this Wednesday (May 28, 2003 at 9 pm EST) will feature a segment on Pixar, with a look at the artists, directors and technicians, like John Lasseter, and the upcoming Finding Nemo.

The 60 Minutes piece gives a behind the scenes look at Pixar, and talks to the writers, animators, producers and directors who have turned Pixar into a colossal success. Correspondent Dan Rather pitches the report.

I bet Jeff Katz watches this with steam under his collar. He has (rightly or wrongly) credited with the Disney animation revival, has championed animation at Dreamworks SKG, and watches after release after release fails to take hold of American kids imagination....while another ex-Disney employee takes a little effects house and transforms it into the New Disney (some might say the True Disney). All right under his nose.

I enjoyed this segment very much. There are about 700 very fortunate people working at Pixar. I'm sure there were many people at Disney watching with great interest.

The previews they showed of Finding Nemo were amazing. This should have a very large opening this weekend ( I also felt that Treasure Planet would also be a big hit after seeing it on the Friday after Thanksgiving..... I think the timing's much better for Nemo)

They did mention the point that Pixar wants a better deal, but Steve Jobs was very diplomatic in his comments.
