Pacific coast cruises on the Wonder in September and October 2012 will be Pixar-themed.

Details below from the Disney Parks Blog:

"During these voyages, Disney Cruise Line guests will be able to interact with and explore the world of Pixar and their beloved characters while the Disney Wonder sails to popular port cities along the coast of California. Special entertainment and offerings designed for both children and adults include:

Artists and filmmakers from Pixar Animation Studios will provide an inside look at the creative process used to develop an animated feature which includes a look at the making of Pixar’s newest release “Brave” and a sneak peek at footage of future Pixar films.

Storyboards, character sketches, environment paintings, maquettes and other inspiring concept art used to design Pixar films will be on display in a special art exhibition at sea. This collection of art has only been seen outside of Pixar Animation Studios when displayed at leading art museums around the world.

Guests will be able to enjoy the entire Pixar library of films while onboard, including a selection of delightful animated shorts. The voyages coincide with the theatrical premiere of “Finding Nemo 3D,” which guests can enjoy at either of the two theatres equipped with state-of-the-art Dolby 3D projection systems.

For the first time, more than a dozen Pixar characters will meet with and greet guests throughout the cruise including Mr. Incredible, Remy, Woody, Jessie and Buzz Lightyear. There will be a special Pixar-themed dance parties in the Atrium Lobby and a host of other opportunities for guests to reconnect with their favorite Pixar pals.

Guests sailing on the Pixar-themed voyages will also receive a commemorative lithograph created by Pixar artist and “Brave” co-director/screenwriter, Steve Purcell. These Pixar-inspired California Coastal cruises set sail Sept. 16, Sept. 23, Sept. 30 and Oct. 7 [2012] from the Port of Los Angeles."

I just saw this on FB!! I hope they eventually extend it to the east coast cruises too! We would LOVE this!! The classic characters are great but it would be nice to mix it up a bit too and be able to book depending on Disney or Pixar!! :thumbsup2

Oh wow...very cool. We are already booked on the Sept. 23rd cruise. But darn, now I wish my kids were going to be on the cruise with us (we can't take them out of school).

I'm not surprised they are looking for ways to get people on these cruises. I've heard they are very undersold. We originally booked an inside and then the price dropped and we were able to rebook at an even lower cost. Then they offered VGT for the same price as a 10a, so we switched to that.

Luckily both DH and I love the Pixar movies so we will definitely enjoy seeing the artwork while on board and of course the commemorative lithograph is an awesome bonus :thumbsup2

I was excited about this cruise before, this is just icing on the cake! I'm excited about the "sneak peeks" of upcoming Pixar movies and the fact that they'll be playing old Pixar classics on board. Can't wait!

I hope they bring this to the Hawaii cruise. We have a lot of sea days to fill.....

We are booked on the Oct 7 cruise and I was very excited to see the announcement this morning on FB. The kids will love the additional characters. DH and I would love to see the artwork and find out more about how Pixar movies are made. Finding Nemo was the first movie my oldest ds saw in a movie theater so it will be cool to see it in 3D on the ship. Not to mention sneak peaks and free lithographs are awesome!

Sounds cool -- wish I could go. Honestly, I wish they did more special stuff like this on all their cruises.

Well, I'm excited. We're already booked on the Oct 7 cruise and honestly, I feel that since we don't get to experience the exclusiveness of Castaway Cay or any of the updated amenities of the newer ships (i.e. Aquaduck), that this kind of helps make up for that ;)

I would book this in a heartbeat, how great that it is on the west coast as well! I'm worried they will not do them in the coming years and I haven't gotten a chance to yet. If we weren't already going on the Fantasy in November because we are trying to get our C2C medal anyway then I would book one!

This is great to see! I hope they add more things like this to more cruises. (Like on the Magic, hint hint DCL ;))It is always nice to see new things added.

I wonder if they'll have an excursion to the Emeryville studio, if they stop in San Francisco?

I've been watching the September 23rd cruise, expecting Disney to offer something in order to get people to book. Personally, I was hoping for kids sail free or more IGT/OGT/VGT rates, but this is a fun and unique perk. Gotta see what DH thinks though!

Same here! I was already booked on the September 16th cruise and am now even more excited :)

I noticed this on FB and once I cleared the time with my manager I booked it for September 16. I'm really looking forward to this cruise.

So far they do not have that listed on the excursions page but it would be amazing if they did.
