Where is the best place to view the Pixar Play Parade? We were planning on getting a PS @ Wine Country Trattoria and requesting an outside table with prime parade viewing. Is that a good plan ... different times ... other good places to see the parade ... do we even need reservations to get a good viewing locale?

This is for a Tuesday in August.

I'm not sure you can request the tables next to the wall outside. I guess you can make the request, but given there are only a few tables they can't always accommodate everyone.

I think in both cases you would be better off getting a streetside seat (probably on the ground) about 1/2 hour before each parade. In both cases I think the experience is enhanced by being at street level.

Thank you for your reply. Additionally, what direction does the parade travel, (1) from the Golden Dreams Theater toward Wine Country Trattoria, (2) from Wine Country Trattoria toward the Golden Dreams Theater, or (3) both ways?

the Pixar parade comes out of a large gate off off Sunshine Plaza, goes around the plaza and down the area by Wine Country.

Not sure where ELP originates --I've only seen it from the wine country area, but think (based on where people line up) that it originates from same area.

ELP comes out from near Jumpin' Jellyfish, and goes towards Sunshine Plaza. I felt that watching it from across the street from Jumpin' Jellyfish was a great place, especially b/c it finished first in that spot, and while it continued on, I could get out of DCA before the masses did b/c they were still waiting for the e. parade to come by. :)

I haven't seen much of the Pixar PP, but I figure it goes along the main thoroughfare in DCA like Block Party Bash did...from Sunshine Plaza past the Trattoria with bug's land on the other side, passing along Golden Dreams, then past Jumpin' Jellyfish to end...

We sat right on the big round domed thing outside of Golden Dreams. It is right on the parade route, no one could be in front of us and afforded a bit of shade. If you look on the ground in front (you are facing the bridge that goes over to California Screamin) there is a line cut in the cement. This is the parade line that everyone must sit behind. We didn't have to line up too early but were in our spots 40 minutes before the parade started. They came from our left crossing in front of Golden Dreams and then going by us too the right. Cute parade :goodvibes Hope my directions make sense.

We sat on benches in front of the train like structure (sorry it was our first visit so I'm not sure what the place is called, it had a bakery and a store). It was the shady side of the street at parade time and near where the parade started. We thought it was a great location and there were several benches there. Be warned though that just about every float sqirted water so if you don't want to get wet you might want to be a bit further back.

The Pixar parade goes from Sunshine Plaza to Paradise Pier and the ELP goes from Paradise Pier to Sunshine Plaza.

We were there the 2nd week of June and watched both parades from the area across from the Golden Dreams building. You could have shown up 1 minute before the parade and have a front row spot.

We did that one year and it worked out great. :thumbsup2 You have to plan on eating late though (well we did this with the ELP, not the Pixar parade, so it made for a late dinner and dessert). So make your reservations late and for outside and then when you check in politely ask for a table on the wall. If they can they will give it to you, they did for us anyway.

I agree with Denton. I've been down to the parks about 4 or 5 times now to see PPP and you don't need to camp out early at all--with one exception. If it's an extremely HOT day, all the shady spots get taken early for Pixar Play. If shade is important to you, I'd look for a spot at least 30 minutes before PPP, if not earlier. But if you're not picky, you can find a front row seat somewhere along the parade route just minutes before the parade starts.

For DEP, you may see people camping out spots well over an hour in advance. You don't need to do this at all. The parade route is long enough that there's always some space available just minutes before the parade starts.

That's exactly where i sat. Be aware that you might stake out the perfect spot on the most relaxing bench and have a whole group of people STAND right in front of you just as the parade starts. I suggest sitting on the ground in front of said bench for the perfect spot, or be brave enough to tell said standers to please SIT DOWN.
