Pity Party - Just Need Some Well Wishes from DVC Community

:grouphug: Sometimes I think Disney is the best place to put troubles and worries aside. I know that Florida sun warms me like nothing else.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

The teeth are out, and DS is fine. He sat on my lap during the procedure, and he did great. The dentist and staff were very impressed and said he was sooo good. He even did pretty good with the needles. Not me! I can't stand them, and I probably would have run off screaming if I was him :rotfl:

I got up enough energy to wrap two little gifts right before we went for the appointment, and I told DS about them. I used that to help him be brave. Ater all was said and done, we opened the presents in the car before leaving to go home - Scooby Doo underware and a set of paint.

DS had four fudgesickles, two bowls of ice cream, and two helpings of homemade chocolate pudding (yep, got up enough strength to do that too - he asked, so I had to) yesterday. I think he's more than fine. I'm getting there.

And the Tooth Fairy left my son $4.00 under his pillow. He promptly handed it out to all of us this morning. His Daddy said that was his money, and DS quickly set him straight. He told him he said he wanted to share it.

Also, DS wasn't too keen on my reply to his question about what to do with the last dollar the Tooth Fairy left. He'd given one to me, one to DH, and kept one for himself. I suggested he give it to his little brother. He thought Gram would be a better choice. He knows where his Disney bread is buttered :teeth:

Thanks for caring, everyone.

You definitely need this trip! Don't plan too much. Do relaxing stuff. Enjoy your family!

2 of our kids went a couple of years with a missing front tooth. They didn't care -- you've gotta cut up their apples, though.

This is a good time of year for you. Usually not too hot and not too cold.

:sunny:

Did you say you are at the BCV? Don't worry then - if you aren't up to going to the parks, it's a great place to stay. There have been two occasions when we went to the beach club and I wasn't feeling well. My husband was great - we just spent the day at SAB and had great dinners in the evening. You can stroll around the boardwalk at night if you are up to it. There is a great kiddie pool - all sand! The kids will love it. Soak up some sun and try not to stress about it. :grouphug:

Just take it easy until time to go and throw just needed stuff in a suitcase. You can always get a food delivery service to help once you get there. I agree, you need some FL sunshine to make you feel better. If you aren't cooking, then order in. There are some nice food delivery places. Just sit out in the sun and enjoy the peace and quiet. Hopefully, you will feel better by then. You could always get a wheelchair if you don't feel like walking in the parks. I hope all your family has a great trip and let us know how it went. Sending you all good wishes for a speedy recovery. CHEER UP!!!!!! :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

I can't think of a nicer place in which to recover from an illness than WDW. April will be sunny and warm but not broiling hot. You can pamper yourself, do us much or as little parks-and-shopping as you feel like, and let the sunshine cure you through and through. I've gone to Florida sick more than once, and always come home in much better shape than when I left. You will, too.

Char -

Sorry to hear everyone is under the weather. I know you have waited a while for this trip. Baby's first trip to WDW is so special!

Hang in there. I know 4 years ago I was supposed to cancel due to pnemunia but when the dr. heard it was not just a vacation but a Disney vacation, he said go...it will better for you than bed rest. I did get an electric cart because I couldn't walk far and it made a big difference.

Go and enjoy!!!!!!

Glad you are feeling better. It sounds like me and everyone I know who was sick this winter. Bronchitis, laryngitis, urinary tract infection, heart scare, unexpected surgery, leg infection, flareup of who knows what etc., etc.
You really need this vacation! Take it easy, no Commando Disney. And why no celebrate both birthdays at a special meal at WDW? A character meal with a birthday cake sounds good to me.
On our first trip as DVC members we took the entire family (banked our first year's points into the second year) and went down just before Easter. My sister gave us the dates when her kids were off and then we realized we would be arriving on my eldest niece's birthday. We let her choose the restaurant (she picked the old Chef Mickey's at DD) and we all loved it when Mickey and the CMs sang Happy Birthday! She is now 26 and says it was one of her best birthdays ever!

I second the idea of celebrating both birthdays at Disney - what a great idea - feel better soon! I've been sick all winter too and I can't imagine a place that would be nicer to put my feet up on a deck chair in that lovely sunshine and rest and watch my DD splash around in the pool than Disney.
:wave2:

Glad you're feeling better/less stressed! Sometimes we can get so overwhelmed that it is hard to put one foot in front of the other!
But it sounds like things are improving daily.

What a sweet little boy to share his Tooth Fairy money! make sure when you get to MK that you stop in the Guest Services inside the Park (on the left) and get that birthday boy a Birthday Button....He will have so many CMs noticing that it is his birthday....especially on the parade route so try to get a seat on the curb!

Have fun and take some time to just rest. That flu/cold/grunge has knocked everyone for a loop this winter...but now, it is spring!

Thanks again to everyone for writing. The doctor has me home resting one more week, which I am very thankful for. I am not well yet, but I am better. The boys (DS #1 and DS#2, along with DH) are all on the mend as well.

The sun is out here today, and despite the dryer having been broken now for over a week (you should see the laundry) and the dishwasher having broken over the weekend (dishes everywhere), I have a smile on my face :cloud9:

Our trip to Disney World is on the horizon. And I've got matching shirts on the way from the Disney Store to surprise "Fun Daddy" - he's always wanted a shirt that said that. Not sure why, but... And even if the rest of what I pack has to be dirty laundry, at least I'll have a washer and dryer that works in my second "home" at the wonderful BCVs :rotfl2:

LOL to the packing of laundry! We usually pack very light for DVC trips anyway! Glad you are feeling a bit better, and hope you have a wonderful trip! Sounds like you need it! :)

I went back to the doctor today for one last check. They have given me the all clear to return to work. I am feeling so much better. I am very glad I'm well. Not glad to be going back to the stress machine though :sad2:

I had asked for 1 1/2 days off to bridge the gap between this Short Term Disability leave and my vacation, but the boss turned me down. Not sure what I'll be able to get done in 1 1/2 days, but...

Oh, also wanted to let you all know the dishwasher is now fixed after a week. The dryer is fixed after 1 1/2 weeks. Since I haven't been at 100%, still got some catching up to do there, but I will have clean clothes for our trip :rotfl:

Lastly, DS #2 is sick again, on medication, seeing a specialist Monday, and is contagious, according to the doctor, so I am assuming DS #1 will be sick about the time we head to Disney or shortly after we get there. DH and I may also end up with it. That is the usual pattern for us, or at least that has been the case for the last three months

I really hope we don't give this illness to Gram. That is not a nice thank you for all the help she's given us on becoming DVC members. She doesn't seem worried. I am lucky to have a mama like her :lovestruc

We are just going to take all the usual medicines with us and be ready for a less "go, go, go" Disney vacation than we originally had planned before all of this illness hit us. That's OK with me I guess. This trip is really a learning experience for us - first trip "home" to BCV and all.

We can just tour all the other DVC resorts, relax by the pool, and save days on our park passes for next year. Still hemming and hawing on exactly what "Magic Your Way" combo to buy - got to buy those tickets ASAP :hourglass

Anyway, that's the scoop. Thanks again to all who joined my "pity party" and helped cheer me up. You all are the best!

:disrocks: AND SO DO ALL OF YOU!

My first day back and work, and DS #1 was diagnosed with tonslitus and Strep exposure. DS #2 has Scarlet Fever (Strep + rash), Impetigo, and ear infections. They think I have Strep again, and DH as well. We have all been put on new antibiotics. Boy, when it rains it pours. But...

The doctor told me today that we should... Go to Disney! So, we are going despite everything. I actually thought about canceling, and DH said, "No way! I need to get out of here." He even wanted to extend the vacation. My boss would have my head! Anyway...

I am so excited. And please look for a trip report from me after I return! Disney here I come!

Absolutely!!! Though we didn't have anything like the problems you've had, me, DH and our two DDs spent from October to January going down with various illnesses and by the time we went to WDW in February we were all really run down. But after two weeks of sunshine, relaxing at OKW and some gently paced park touring, we all felt wonderful!!! Best thing we did!!

Hope you have a lovely, relaxing vacation. :)

Have fun, don't forget to let mousekeeping know so they can clean your room thoroughly - hope you all feel better soon.

Good for your doctor! Plus if you're all on antibiotics, you shoudl all get well together. You should not be contagious by teh time you go either. Boy, you deserve this vacation! Have a great time!
