The William Penn or Fairmont for a one night stay? Or some other hotel?

Well a bit of detail may help! What will you be doing? Are you looking for upscale old school or are you wanting more life/fun?

If you are going out I'd look into the Sheraton at Station Square. Lots of fun places to go plus easy transportation around.

If you want downtown I'd check out the Renaissance along with the William Penn and Fairmont. Some rooms have amazing views.

Avoid the Westin convention center! Lobby is nice but the rooms are really run down.

We are going to visit family, so we won't have time to do much sight seeing.
We just want a nice place to stay, with good room service, and some cool shops or something with in walking distance would be nice too.
I have a room on hold at the Omni (they have a nice military rate!), but I'll check out the others you mentioned.
Thanks!

If you will be going in and out the William Penn has valet parking and they charge to go in and out (and it isn't cheap)

We stayed at the William Penn for the Paul McCartne concert last year and the room and hotel were awesome. Very classy. :thumbsup2

I thought I read that valet gave you in and out privileges? Do they charge you $27 every time you come or go? If that's the case that's CRAZY!!! Yikes!
I'll have to look into that.
I did read that they have a lot across the street that's $5 on weekends, but I think you have to pay it each time you come and go as well.

That's good to hear! The military rate is cheaper than some of the three star hotels in the area, and I was wondering if maybe it wasn't as nice as it sounded.

Have any of you ever stayed at the Omni Bedford springs resort in PA? I stumbled across it while looking into other hotel options, and it seems really nice! They offer military $77 a night and I'm wondering if it would be worth a 3 hour drive sometime to go check it out.

we were at a wedding this summer and they charged us to go out to the wedding and then come back. Maybe they weren't supposed to but they did.

I'd give the Sheraton Station Square a look. Meets all of your criteria. :)

When I was looking at hotels downtown for the Pittsburgh marathon weekend the Wyndham Grand Pittsburgh was the best priced of the downtown hotels. I haven't stayed there yet but the reviews I found online looked positive and the price was by far the best near the city center, at least for the weekend I was looking at.

We stayed at the Omni Wm. Penn this past weekend and have stayed before. Our DS goes to school in Pittsburgh so we've stayed at many hotels throughout the years. We like the OMP the best. It's a very opulent, grand hotel. The rooms are very large with nice comfy beds, turn down service, morning newspaper, 24-hour room service etc. There's also a starbucks in the lobby.:thumbsup2 We parked across the street in the lobby, which is a little bit of a hassle, but not too bad. They do charge you everytime you move your car with a $5 max. It was still way cheaper than what some of the other city hotels charge, though. We love Pittsburgh--have fun!
