Anyone going to the Celebrate the Seasons Parade in Pittsburgh tomorrow? I'm in it!! :cool1: Our band is performing Jingle Bells. We are the last band in the parade and our leading Santa through the parade. We are right in front of his float!!! YEAHHH!!! We can't wait!! After this, our next band performance is in Disney World!!!

Sorry, I just found this post.

We live just north of Pittsburgh and have never attended the Parade. Will WPXI broadcast it? I saw on TV last night that the Radio City Rockettes were going to be part of the parade as well. My DD and I went to see them two weeks ago, it was an excellent show!

How you had fun in the parade! :goodvibes

Yep, I think WPXI is broadcasting it. Will you be coming tomorrow? It should be "lovely". We have to be at the school at 615AM, which means be there at 6 or else your late. And its going to be freezing. *bbbbbrrrrrrr*. LOL.

The parade was sooo much fun!!! We all messed up so badly the second time we went through the song, but that wasn't a big deal because we weren't on the main road yet. It was really cold, though. :cold: Did anyone see it on TV? It was so funny. One of the people in colorguard (it wasn't me, I swear) hit the camera man. Her face afterwards was hillarious. My parents taped it and I watched it 20 times laughing hysterically at it each time. It was too funny. And some guy ran through us. He totally ignored our instructor who was yelling "Don't run through them, please, Sir, don't run through them." What would possess anyone to run through a bunch of girls swinging around 6 foot (technically the ones we used today were 5 1/2 feet, but whatever) long metal poles? :confused3 I just don't understand what some people are thinking.

BTW, if you see us in Disney World in February, DO NOT CUT THROUGH US. We will hit you. We will not stop. And if you are hit because you are in our way, it is your fault. The band director and our instructor will be on our side. So again....DO NOT CUT THROUGH US, WE WILL HIT YOU!!!
Sorry, just had to vent a bit.

Congrats on the parade, Simba! :cheer2: We didn't make it downtown this year. My DS15 is in marching band (trumpet), and every competition I keep waiting for one of the girls in the guard to whack those judges with a flag or gun - they deserve it for the way they walk around you guys on the field, talking into their tape recorders! What school district are you in?

Good luck at WDW in February - the Gateway band is going to WDW in only 10 more days!!! They leave Dec. 6, do a performance at the Galaxy Palace Theater on Dec. 8, and then march in the afternoon parade at the MK on Dec. 9. We're pulling out DS13 out of school and we're all heading down to be groupies. I can't wait - I've never been to WDW during the holidays before!!

Thanks Amy! We don't compete, but some people do deserve to get whacked, especially our 50/50 guys at the football games. They are always making comments to us, especially the color guard. They are just so ignored. AND THEY ARE ON OUR SIDE!!!! :confused3
Thanks for the luck! Good luck to your son's band too! Have a great trip! Our band will have groupies. There will be a whole clump of red (our school colors are red and white) and a ton of adults screaming. We went to Kennywood and you could tell where all the band parents were. There was just a ton of people wearing red shirts screaming as we went past. WDW is beautiful at the holidays. If you can (I don't know if you are staying with the band at all times or what), but try and get tickets to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. We went a couple years ago and it was one of the best things we did the whole trip, and even in all our trips. Good luck and pixie dust is on its way to your son!!! :wizard:

Simba - DH, DS13 and I are NOT staying with the band - the band is going down on a bus and staying off-site; we're flying down and staying at WL. I got tickets for MVMCP for the 3 of us; the band isn't doing the party, bummer. But they ARE getting some special workshops while they're there: the color guard will spend a morning with the Disney dancers, and the instrumentalists will spend a morning with Disney musicians. So DS15 will get to see some behind-the-scenes stuff, even though he'll miss MVMCP.

That sounds like a lot of fun. We're taking a bus down too. :scared1: LOL. I want to do that workshop thing. LOL. That would be awesome!!! Of course, I am the Disney freak and anytime someone mentions something that has the slightest bit to do with disney, everyone looks at me. We had a set in our show that looked kind of like Mickey Mouse. Within the first couple days of guard camp, our instructor knew how much I loved Disney and she showed us the set. Everyone was like OMG, you will love it. :rotfl2:
