Alright folks, who has seen it, and what do you think? Looking forward to seeing the movie this weekend!!!!!!!

36% on rotten tomatoes...

and even worse than that: the "good" reviews are from bloggers and "periodicals" that have never actually sold one copy or had anyone read it except by accident.

so it's a big crappy movie to sell junk...remind you of anything recently?

The first one was so good that it gets increasingly ridiculous each time they roll one of these out.
They have no pride in their work...just chasing gift shop dollars.

In other news...water is wet

We saw it last night, and thought it was GREAT!! Is it Oscar worthy? Of course not! It was however very entertaining, had a decent story, and lots and lots of funny moments. Our entire theatre laughed throughout the movie, and clapped when it was over. Most of those we heard talking on the way out were commenting about how much they enjoyed it.

Our theatre was PACKED..not a seat left, and they were showing it on 3 screens. We saw just the regular 2D last night. Gonna see it again in IMAX 3D this Saturday with some more folks.

I didn't HATE Pirates 2 or 3, but they aren't ones I care to really see again and again. IMO, Pirates 4, while not as good as the first, is wayyy beyond the middle 2. I usually really like most movies that the "big" critics hate, so take that into consideration I suppose.:rotfl:

Definitely glad we went to see it, and looking forward to Saturday!

Saw it last night and have to say I was disappointed. I thought the story line was weak, the casting was just okay and although I love me some Capt. Jack, they need to give the poor captain a rest and give some screen time to others. I missed the pirates (Pintel and Ragetti in particular) from the earlier films and believe that there presence would have given this film more credibility. I know the whole idea of making movies is to be able to make money at it, but this just seemed like overkill.

Saw the midnight showing and I love on Stranger Tides; but a little bit less than the trilogy I missed Will and Elizabeth. pirate:

Saw a midnight last night. Not oscar worthy, but definitely worthy of seeing in the theater. I actually thought it was the funniest of all of the movies so far, even if there were some gaping plot issues. I think it is a great popcorn movie though.pirate:

Hence why I don't ever go by critics ratings...usually if critics hate it, I'll love it.

BTW, did you actually SEE the movie?

I did watch it tonight, and enjoyed it. Also, the users ("audience") on rottentomatoes gave it an 82% so far

I know you're not replying to me -- but I happen to find the tomato-meter useful. It's not gospel. But it informs my decision.

And then, there are specific critics I've learned to trust over the years. I know my opinion will never completely match, for example, Roger Ebert's -- but he happens to be a very good critic who can write about a film without spoiling the plot and also get across not just what he thinks of a film, but whether or not I might enjoy it regardless of his opinion.

You're free to love/hate a movie for any reason you want or choose to see/not see a film for any reason or not. But don't take it so personally when others have their own reasons for doing the same.

I was planning to see Pirates tomorrow. Now, based on what I've read, I'll wait for the DVD. It doesn't mean I've assumed the movie will suck without seeing it -- but going to the theater isn't cheap, and there are lots of choices out there. When I take the time and money to go, I want to have some degree of confidence that I'll enjoy the movie... for ones I'm less sure of, there's Netflix.

Alright folks, who has seen it, and what do you think? Looking forward to seeing the movie this weekend!!!!!!!

My adult daughter saw all of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies and said that this latest one is the BEST of all of them and plans on seeing it again.

Arrrrgh! It be a fine movie matey!

Captain Jack had a great role, and Penelope Cruz as Angelica was wonderful! I really expected to miss Elizabeth's character, but Angelica was noteworthy. We saw the 3-D version which added to the fun as well. The entire theatre reacted throughout the movie which really made it fun.

Of course, where did we go after the movie? Only one option... Arrrrrby's!! DD13 & I had a great day!

After all... A pirates life for me!pirate:

I loved it too. Waaaaaay better than #3. Didn't miss Will or Elizabeth. Johnny Depp was awesome. And I am not a Johnny Depp devotee. Two thumbs up from me!!:thumbsup2

Amazing I loved it I loved Blackbeard it was almost tied with Curse of the Black Pearl and immensely better than two and three. Had the feeling of the first and nit the crazy crap from two and three.

Also loved the hidden Mickey lock and that they worked the skeleton in the bed in from the DL ride.

i loved it. love the mermaids and wanted to know more about them. barbossa is my fave. i liked the story line and gonna see it again and for sure buying it when it comes out. and potc3 is my fave cuz barbossa is in it snd davy jones snd sao feng. i wasnt expecting oscar worthy material was expecting stunts, sword fighting, pirate venacular, and funny monologue...thats what I got... vpirate:

saw it tonight and thought it was good. Obviously not the best out of the series, but thought it was better than 2, and possibly three. Don't get why anyone would trash it, it was worth the price of admission.

Saw it last night with my family. DD and I laughed out loud a lot, enjoyed it very much. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 DS was a little disappointed and I think DH fell asleep a couple of times (he's a dairy farmer and gets up at 4am every day...and to be fair, he fell asleep once when we went to see a 007 movie...so we don't judge anything by that! :rotfl2:)

I just wanted MORE....more of the story, more of Jack, more of the cleric and the mermaid. I want to go see it again as soon as I can.

Just got back from the movie. I really liked it, but I did miss Will and Elizabeth a little bit. I really liked the mermaids.

I was pretty awesome. Everything I expected out of it. A great swashbuckling adventure :)
