Pirates Soft Opening - WDW!!!

Are those real people in the picture? They look like the animatronic ones from the DL ride that someone posted the video of. You know, the one where Johnny Depp did the ride through?

I read that it is to last at least through Dec.31, and I expect that date to be extremely flexible. If they've stopped running this before the end of NEXT year I would be surprised.

Whether they continue this or not, you have at least given me hope. I can get a lot of mileage out of a little hope. Thank you. Yes, I really, really want to see the Pirate Tutorial. I'm not inclined to rush, tackle or stalk a character but I wouldn't mind standing back and watching the Captain character interact with the little pirates.

I promise they were real - or they were the BEST Animatronics EVER! Actually, we saw a little of the show on Saturday - and Captain Jack looked ever so slightly different (if you know what I mean)! Both Jacks were excellent though & with the time it takes to get them so close to the movie-version, I would be surprised if the Captain isn't around for a LONG time!

Can you tell me about the KTTK tour? We are thinking about it for September. Thanks :wave2:

The KTTK tour was AWESOME! I thought that I was a Disney-Know-It-All and maybe I knew too much and would be bored, but I was pleasantly and profoundly wrong! Matthew was our tour guide & he was excellent. There was a LOT that he told us that was new to me & it was very cool going backstage and in the Utilidors! Plus, in the Utilidors - I saw where they replenish CM Pins! There's a little station down there - but DW would NOT let me stop & check it out. It is definitely worth it IMO - if you do a search on the KTTK tour, you will probably get a lot more reviews.

I can't wait for the new movie popcorn:: and then to go on the ride in Sept. :cool1: DH, DS and I will be dressing as pirates pirate: pirate: pirate: for the halloween party :Pinkbounc We'll have to get pictures next to Captain jack

Is the POTC completely redone or is some of the stuff that used to be in the ride still there?

My understanding is that it will be mostly the same - with several additions - namely a certain Pirate Captain who makes most female DISers weak in the knees! If you do a search, you can lots of stuff on the new additions and I think there is even a link somewhere with a ride thru already!

Thanks for the information. It sounds great. If only September would hurry up and get here! :hourglass

I rode POTC twice this past weekend. I liked the changes. Kept the spirit of the original, added a few nice touches, overall a thumbs up. The audio-animatronics of Jack Sparrow are amazing. We literally looked at the first and asked each other, "It couldn't be him, could it?" Loved the first part that gets started, but don't want to say too much. Our last days in the parks was on Monday and I just got home from a 10 hour drive. If you have any qs, put them here and I'll read them in the morning!

I got to ride it! I have to say that the Jack Sparrow figures are the most realistic auto-antimatronics I've ever seen. I swear I had to do a double take!

Most of the ride is the same- they added a few figures and set pieces as well as some new effects and some of the score from the film.

We had to do a double-take on the Jack Sparrow figures as well. I told my DW, they have a live person in here as Jack, when it turned out to be animatronics.. Disney did an outstanding job on the updates...

We basically walked on the evening of July 2.. I don;t think many realized it was in soft opening...

Our last day in the world was on 6/30 and they had removed the wooden fencing. But the ride was not open. I was so wishing for a soft opening. But I gues I missed it by 1 day. pirate:
