Pirates Rehab Details - Finally

The biggest question of all is if the next two films, POTC: Dead Man's Chest and POTC: Ends of the World will be any good and hits at the box office.

Remember all the hype surrounding the two sequels to The Matrix. The public's interest can be very fickle. Disney could spend a lot of time, money and hype to redo rides around movies that no one likes. I don't think it's likely the POTC movies will fail, but there is always that chance.

P.S. Mr. Pirate, you forgot to mention that Disneyland easily has the better castle as well.

I’ve guaranteed this thread will run to fifty pages now…

Does Disneyland have a castle??? I must have missed it.
Just because you're used to the steroid-enhanced castle in Florida doesn't mean you get to be snarkey about our cute, proportionally correct California Castle.

There absolutely is a castle at Disneyland. I have the scars to prove it... from when I tripped over it.

With the new steroid policy, its going to be kinda sad to see the MK castle go Sammy Sosa on us.

As a UK POTC fan in both its forms (movie and ride) I personally would think that updating the ride to include references to the movies would be a good idea...a fact which would encourage me to plan a trip to Disneyland next time instead of WDW Florida. Including Capt Jack Sparrow in the attraction could do nothing but maximise it's appeal, particularly if the animatronic character is a good likeness of the inimitable Mr Depp!
As I have never been to Disneyland (yet), I cannot participate in the debate about the best POTC ride / best castle etc, but would just like to add that both the POTC ride and the Castle at Disneyland Paris, knock spots off the ones at Magic Kingdom! (sorry!) pirate:

It's that cute little thing they took out of a snowglobe isn't it? (Did I just mention the word "snowglobe"? :scared1: )

I'm way too biased in favor of the Pirate movies. I normally hate redos but I'm going to wait and see this one before I squawk. For a change.

the one in WDW could stand some enhancements (like a restaurant to float by at the beginning like in DL and DLP.....probably not in the cards eh)....
i just hope they do a better job on this refurbishment than that fiasco they call Stitch's Great Escape...

the whole "narration" thing has me a bit worried, though. ( i keep hearing my creative writing professors: "Show me, don't tell me.") If they have to "tell" what's happening in the story, then they are doing something wrong.

I think Jack Sparrow just "blending" with the rest of the pirates is a better way to tie in the movie than completely changing the entire (classic) ride....

I love Pirates, I wish they would add more drops or ride action rather than changing the animitronics

If you're referring to the Florida version, the reason they didn't have the two drops like the Cali attraction is because of the high water table in Florida.

You mean they couldn't have gone higher in the beginning of the ride to allow for the drops? ... Surely the reason the Florida ride is inferior was due to budget constraints.

I thought the 2 drops has to do with the railroad tracks and such running above.

I too thought that it was due to the fact that PotC at MK was an add-on. There was significant negative feedback that there wasn't a PotC at MK, so they built one, but they didn't have the room to build it as long or as high as the one at DL.

Pirates in Florida is in fact an add on and was never intended to be there.
Pirates in Florida also goes under the railroad tracks, so that is not an excuse for it being shorter. I think it was a matter of space and budget, because it was a hastily installed expansion.
Originally, MK was supposed to get the Western River ride which was something like twice as big as pirates and would have been built beneath Big Thunder Mountain. Never happened though.

I gotta say I am nervous about this 'refurbishment'...they are taking a classic and popular ride and tinkering with it...and given the track record that have had with refurbishments (many have been a dissapointment) I can't help but feel apprehensive. What next? The Haunted Mansion featuring Eddie Murray?
