Pirates refurbishment

I read somewhere yesterday that Pirates will be refurbished in 2 stages. The first stage is from March 1st through March 31st and then it will reopen until May 1st for the second stage. Can anyone confirm this or knows anything else about Pirates. We are going to Disney in April and it would be great if it was really going to be open while we were there, we love that ride. Thanks in advance to anyone who may know something about this.

When I was checking the Official Disney web site last week, for the days of our visit in April, it lists Pirates as closed for refurbishment. I have also heard that it was going to re-open in April, but that is not what the official dates say.

I will call to disney and see if I can find out from the source and see if it is true. Let you know what I find out.

Unless something has changed, Pirates will be closed beginning in March until July 7....I DH that Pirates will be closed when we are there in May (this is one of his favorite rides), but we are going back in September, so we will get to ride it then, with all the changes!

Open for the Easter busy season.

This is the info that they have given to the MK CM's... It would be closed until Easter week, at that time they will be doing the "non-show element" rehab. It would be open for Easter week (I think it was the week before, of and after...but don't hold me to that...definetly the week OF easter) because of the crowds they are expecting... and then it will close again to do the show element portion of the rehab (adding the animatronics and such)...

Question about the final opening date. Do you think it will open early if the refurb is done early, or will they wait until the July 7 date to coincide with the release of the movie?

Here's hoping it opens early as we are leaving the world on July 5!

Pirates is only scheduled to be closed for rehab through June 30th... It is due to reopen on July 1st (barring any set backs...)

Fron this morning's WDW update on mouseplanet.com:

Pirates of the Caribbean is now closed for its refurbishment. Three weeks ago, we reported that the attraction would temporarily reopen for the Easter crowds before completing the refurbishment , and discussed what would be done during each closure. We are now hearing that the reopening will last for the entire month of April. We have not yet been able to confirm that, however.

I just e-mailed disney to try to find out exactly what dates it will reopen so as soon as I hear, I will let everyone know. Thanks for all the info, we sure hope it will be open for our trip the week before Easter, that would be awesome. My daughter is looking forward to our trip and she loves riding the Pirates of the Carribean.

I got an e-mail back from Disney and they said that at this time they haven't announced that Pirates would be done in 2 stages. So they can't confirm and they don't deny either that it will be open in April. But Since I will be down there in April, I guess we will just see what happens. Anyone who is going in April, keep your hopes up.
