Can anyone tell me about the P&P nights, our ds will be 11 in Aug (just before we go), thought it might me a good idea to celebrate his birthday as he wants to do that at MK. He dressed up for star wars last year (May) but probably would'nt want to now.

They haven't announced any P&P nights in August but we're hoping they will as we went last year and had a great time. DD dressed up as Jasmine but DS just wore a Pirates T-shirt. We did see some people dressed up but no where near as many as you'd see for MNSSHP

I'd love this!! Any excuse to wear a wooden leg and an eye patch:thumbsup2

Pity we're going in May though.

We did P&P last August. The men of the party bought pirate hats in the park on the day and wore T-shirts with the skull and crossbones on - enough to scare Peter Pan & Wendy, I wore a tiara. If you are celebrating a birthday and having a character meal - buy a small gift for a character to give the birthday child - it goes down a treat. Make sure you get a birthday badge too (we got ours from a vendor in AK but I believe they are available from guest services) works a treat with the characters.

Thanks. ds has his birthday just before we travel & last year suffered from nausia for a few days, so we were going to celebrate his birthday a little late, on a mk emh day & go to CRT (his choice). like the gift idea. What actually happens at the P&P nights? Is there a limited number of places & is the park then closed early.

We spent the whole day there - long and tiring but worth it in the fact that it seemed less busy due to it closing early for P&PP. Basically all rides are open, characters dressed as Pirates and Princess', there is a special parade (great if you are POC fans) and also show in front of the castle. Fireworks were gobsmackingly excellent - we felt as thought the castle had been blown apart. You wander all around the park collecting your booty from key points - a bit like Mickey's not So Scary Halloween if you've done that.

Thanks. Think we might do this as an extra rather than for ds birthday as he wants to do CRT & this would take us out of the park during the P&P time. Not been to halloween party, so not sure what you mean by collecting booty. Please could you explain a little more?

We were given a small velvety bag to collect chocolate and beads , some were given freely, others had to be "won" by doing tasks like hitting the frog into a lily pad etc.. We collected enough chocolate for my class at school to share (I'm a T/A) and the beads and bags have adorned three scrap book/photo albums.

We went last August with my 9 & 11 y/o DD's and my biggest advice would be to have a very lazy morning so you can stay near enough to the end of the party!

All the rides were a walk on and the parade and fireworks were fantastic, we didn't dress up as it was a surprise for the girls and being August was incredibly hot but some of the outfits people were wearing were amazing :)

Have fun!

We went last year, and I am just praying that we manage to catch either a PPP or the MNSSHP, because this year we are going a little later than we normally do - beginning of September, and I'm afraid we may end up falling right between the end of the PPP (IF they opted to do them) and beginning of MNSSHP! I hope we get to go to one - I want an excuse to go to the BBB and run around the park in costume. And this coming from a 25-year-old... :rotfl:

Wow, it looks like this is a must, when are the dates announced. I have to make ADR's next sunday & need to plan around those.
Disneyjo, what day did you go, is there limited tickets?
Thanks for the pics, Wayneg, wicked costumes & booty bags look good.
Teamharris, I'm a t/a too, guess what i'l be taking the kids back?.

Almost sure DisneyJo did same evening as us Weds 15th August.
I always think these type of events are quieter on a weekday, locals have school and don't want to be up until after midnight.
Yes there is limited tickets, I heard half capacity but not sure if thats true, certainly didn't feel half full.
We got AP discount so think it was about £18 each. great value and you can enter anytime after 4pm aven though the ticket says 7pm.

I really hope they do this in August!
My daughter turns 16 while we're there and it looks like a great way to celebrate :cheer2:
Great photos Wayne, love your costumes. Did your wife dress up too?

She didn't for Pirates, just wore some of DS's pirate pins but she has done before for MNSSHP, dressed as a witch a couple of times.
I embarress her a little, I really do not care what anyone else thinks if I am having fun. Maybe now I am in my 40's and the size I am I should be a little more reserved but you only live once.
I am considering wearing the outfit again twice this next trip, if we do Pirate & Princess night and also Pirates night on the cruise but I think she wants me to look for another outfit or not wear one at all.:rotfl2:

Thanks Wayne!
I'm hoping we'll all dress up for the Pirate night on the cruise & hopefully for the Princess and Pirate party then (wasn't sure if there would be many 40 something year old Princess's).
Not sure if I'll persuade my Mum though she's 72!
But like you say holidays are for FUN

Has anyone who's done P&P also been to MNSSHP? Just wondered how they compared. We really fancy having a go when we're there in August and it just so happens it'll be around my birthday:rolleyes1 so thought it would be a real laugh with the 7 of us (4 adults, 3 teenagers).

We've done MNSSHP 3 times and love the whole thing - in fact it's normally the only time we do MK now:scared1:
