Southern California Pirates or Medieval Times Dinner?

HAs anyone been to either and could give me a review? Is it worth the money? Which one is better? Suitable for kids 9,7&4? (boys). We are planning on doing goofys Kitchen for dinner on the day we arrive (non-disney day) and I'm tossing around the idea of doing Surfs up for breakfast one morning too. We will have 8 full days there, am I overdoing it?

Also can anyone tell me if Universal Studios is an all day event? With the ages of my kids will there be enough for them to be entertained?

It's been a few years since I've been to either but I like both of them. I guess it just depends on what your kids are more into, pirates and ships or knights and horses. The food was decent at both, there are a few scantily clad actors at the pirate one that I don't remember at the other (a couple shirtless pirates and some tight bodices) but they are both well within G ratings. The Pirate stage set was really cool, but I like the horses at Medieval times too. I would do either again.

I have not been to Medieval Times in years and I believe they've changed their show since then so I can't really comment on that but I did go to Pirates last October. I enjoyed it very much! It is definitely geared to families and they do some fun stuff with the kids. The food was large portions and served hot. There is some singing too which is nice and lots of (corny) humor. I think your kids would really like it.
I think Universal Studios is a lot of fun and yes there is plenty of stuff to do. The park usually doesn't open until 10:00 or so and closes at 6:00 so it's not like a sun-up/sun-down tiring day like at Disney. They definitely don't have as many rides as Disney but the shows are fun and the street entertainment is also great.

We (group of adults) recently did the Pirate dinner. The show itself was ok, the food was pretty bad. I'm not somebody who puts salt on my food, and this needed something. We were a large group, about 11 of us, and my car load of people all agreed on the food. The other people in my car had been to Medieval Times before, and all agreed it was much better.
