Pirates on the Dining Plan!! A week of Disney dining! (with lots of pics!)

I am positively drooling over here! All of your meals look SO yummy! I must go to WPE for breakfast! ::yes::

WPE omelets look sooooo good. :goodvibes I was drooling over the picture of Tom's omelet thinking I have to get one of those the next time I'm in DTD then I scrolled down and saw the picture of yours with the yummy goat cheese. I might have to try 2 breakfasts there. :thumbsup2

Looking forward to your California Grill review. :)

Wow- I am sooo jealous- three of my very favorites all in one day! :worship:

Can't wait to hear about California Grill!:surfweb:

Thanks for posting this. We've never tried WPE. I love a good omelet. Yours looked quite yummy. We will have to give it a try.

Oh my, that tomato/basil/cheese omelet looks amazing! I showed that to hubby, and now we're going to have to squeeze in a morning trip to Downtown Disney just so we can have one of those.

Oh gosh I forgot about that...go to sleep you crazy woman! I can wait until tomorrow....barely! :rotfl:

:lmao:

I have been out of town and you posted so many more wonderful reviews!

The WPE breakfast, again, looked fantastic...what delish looking meals you had there. :thumbsup2 I showed Dh your reivews of WPE in hopes he'll agree to try it (he is all about TS at Disney). He is close to saying "yes", I think...;)

Can't wait to read your California Grill review...we loved our meal and experience there. :goodvibes

You need to try WPE, it is very similar to a TS meal! You order at the counter and pick up your drinks, but the food is brought out to you on real plates and with real cutlery, LOL! They even refill your glasses and the food is just to die for - I hope you can convince your DH!!

WPE breakfast looks WONDERFUL! I am a huge BF eater . . . I have an omelet almost every day, but mine don't look nearly as good as WPE's!!! We are definitely going there for BF on our trip.

You WILL enjoy your breakfast at WPE!!:thumbsup2

I am glad you are so excited by our food choices, :goodvibes We seldom have a bad meal at WDW and WPE has never let us down. I am counting down to our summer holiday and I know that as soon as we hit WDW, we need to have some WPE food! :rotfl:

2 breakfasts at WPE are better than one - try the breakfast pizza - I am dreaming about it as we speak!

California Grill coming up in just a short while!

Thanks for posting this. We've never tried WPE. I love a good omelet. Yours looked quite yummy. We will have to give it a try.

WPE is the BEST use of a CS credit for us :thumbsup2 There are lots of photos of his food on my homepage! (WDW food - DTD)

That Apple-Rhubarb Crumble looks delicious! Can't wait to read more! :goodvibes

It didn't only look delicious - it WAS delicious! I am not one who would go for this kind of dessert, but at LeCellier I was HAPPY I made this choice - it was SO good!

:thumbsup2 You won't be disappointed! WPE food = :cloud9:

Dinner at the California Grill

We left Epcot via the International Gateway and took a Friendship over to the Disney Hollywood Studios.
There was one thing I wanted to see and that was the American Idol Experience. Since we were early we had time to walk throught he park and it was packed!! About 20 minutes before the AIE we walked over to the theater, joined the line and enjoyed the pre-show.

The show itself was lots of fun. Since there was no chance to ride anything after the show we decided to head back to Epcot by Friendship. The line was long, but they fitted us all onto the boat. We left the boat at the Swolphin and walked over to the Boardwalk and were there before the boat was.

We checked out the Boardwalk Bakery and strolled over to Epcot again, picked up the car and went back to the resort.

Since we hadn't spent much time at the resort and it was such a beautiful late afternoon we spent some time in the hammocks at a beach near our room.

We had a reservation at the California Grill at 9pm, right when the fireworks were starting and we left the resort at 8.15 and drove right over to the Contemporary and had the car parked - nice perk that comes with the Tables in Wonderland card. We checked in at the second floor of the Contemporary and asked if our favourite server was working that day. He wasn't, bummer, since we had brought along a little present for him. So we asked if we could leave it for him with someone. Well, they told us the manager of the CG would take care of it. So we were taken upstairs, the manager was being brought over, there were LOTS of eyes on us while we tried to explain that we had a little present for one of their servers and finally were on our way outside to the viewing platform to take a look around.
We did not even make it to the glass doors! Even though there were lots of people waiting with beeper in hand we were seated right away. Our greeter took us to the wine room and we were seated at a 4 top. We had a nice female server - unfortunately I forgot her name. She brought the menus and took our drink orders than told us to go outside and watch the fireworks and our drinks would be waiting for us when we returned.

So after the fireworks and the electric water pageant we returned to our table to find our Diet Cokes waiting for us and to find a second fireworks display right in front of our eyes. From our table we could watch the Epcot fireworks - how cool is that!

A few minutes after we had returned to the table she brought out our grown up drinks.

Tom's favourite drink there is the Whiskey sour and that is what he got.

IMG_0865.jpg

I had another Strawberry Daiquiry - it is just so good up there, like liquid strawberries (just with alcohol  )

We ordered our appetizer, which we shared.

IMG_0869.jpg

This was the Slow roasted "Adobo" pork with Fire roasted Tomato Sauce, Queso Fresco and Avocado Crema. Like all their flatbreads this was so good. Crispy flatbread and the sauce, pork and Avocado Crema were so well complimenting each other.
The restaurant got really empty and quiet after the fireworks and we really enjoyed our secluded table in the wine room.

IMG_0870.jpg

Once we had finished the flatbread our server brought out the warm sourdough bread and some very strong olive oil and butter. We love the stong tasting oil and nibbled quite a bit of the bread dipped in the oil.

Unfortunately I only took a photo of the first part of the menu, so the description of the main course will be a bit rough - sorry!

IMG_0874.jpg

I had the Crispy Salmon on a bed of lentils and wild mushrooms, silky mash and red wine reduction and onion confit. Boy, this was good. It was a HUGE piece of salmon, with a really crispy skin and soft, silky, juicy salmon. The mushrooms and lentils went so well together and the mash and sauce were just to die for. I would definitely have that again!

IMG_0877.jpg

Tom had the Ostrich filet, cooked medium over pulled brussel sprouts, mushrooms and butternut squash and some very tasty sauce. Another one of the CGs great dishes! It was cooked perfectly and the meat was SO tender. There were just thin leaves of the brussel sprouts and they went WELL with the meat. Tom loved it!

IMG_0879.jpg

We both had the same dessert, Valrhona Chocolate Cake and Raspberry - Warm chocolate cake with molten center, housemade raspberry ice cream and raspberry sauce. This is another ALL time favourite of ours and if you love high quality dark chocolate you are going to love this. The center is totally liquid and just oozes out and the warm cake together with the ice-cream - disneyliscious.

We finished our meal and when we left the restaurant it was nearly empty. We picked up our car and went back to the resort - another wonderful day at my favourite place on earth.

We paid OOP for this meal, so there is no DDP "maths" done.

Next up: Boardwalk Bakery, Starring Rolls Cafe, Min and Bill's Dockside Diner, Flame Tree Barbeque, Royal Anandapur Tea Company, Mara and Olivia's.
LOL - that's a lot for a day! :lmao:

ooooooooh CG looks so good! We are going there for the first time on our next trip and I cant wait to try that flatbread!

Their flatbreads vary seasonally, but they are all so YUMMY. We tried several of them during our visits and LOVED them all. :thumbsup2

All I can say is....WOW! CG looks incredible! I cannot wait to go! The flatbread and the dessert is making my stomach rumble!

One silly question...is that ostrich filet or beef filet? If it is ostrich does it taste like beef?

It's ostrich - hey, and now I know how to spell it correctly, :lmao: It is very soft meat and slightly "sweeter" than beef. This WAS actually melting in my mouth, so tender!

SO glad we've decided to return to CG in October, great review!:thumbsup2

CG = good choice :thumbsup2
Even though you never know what they are offering, because of their frequent menu changes, it is always a wonderful meal! It you like sushi, try that - it is devine!

I am positive you will like the ostrich! It is very juicy and so tender and if anyone can sell ostrich for filet mignon I am sure it is you!! ;)
I really think it would go for filet mignon. Very lean meat too! :thumbsup2

Your CG pictures have me drooling! Especially the flatbread and the dessert. I love dark chocolate and raspberry together! :lovestruc
