Pirates on the Dining Plan!! A week of Disney dining! (with lots of pics!)

Welcome back! I am looking forward to reading your reviews. :hippie:

They sure don't serve food like that on the flights I have been on!

I think I need to fly with you next time :) I am excited to read and stare at the yummy food on your report!!!

Great start! I am glad you had a great trip and lucky you! Upgrade to business class...a girl can dream...can't wait for the rest!

Business class started it off with a bang and it was just magical from there on and the food was GOOD!!!! :lmao:

What an upgrade, great start!!!!:thumbsup2

:flower3: More coming up soon!

I'm here and ready to hear more !! It sounds like you all had a very lovely meal on the flight. The last airline food I had was nothing like that, more like freeze dried stuff that they added water to and heated in the microwave, LOL !!

Can't wait to hear more about your adventures !!

Welcome! :flower3: That was our first brush with gourmet airplane food as well and I just wish I could afford to fly business class, but Mickey gets all my money!

Yay you are back! Cannot wait to hear all about it!

Hi Nicki! There's lots more to come and we did talk about YOU and YOUR dining adventures a lot this trip!

Welcome back! I am looking forward to reading your reviews. :hippie:

Welcome! :flower3: We had a lot of yummy food this trip, it felt like we spent more time eating than visiting the parks, LOL!

Welcome! :flower3: There's lots more food to review.

Dinner on the plane and some late night sandwiches from Earl of Sandwich, a peek into our pirate room and a surprise from a friend!

Flying business class gives you a lot of space and it took quite some time to figure out how the different functions of the seats worked - you could even turn them into a bed and we took a little nap after our HUGE lunch.
Later we watched some of the onboard movies and TV shows before they started serving dinner.

Roasted breast of Poulard with Romaine Lettuce and Basmati Rice with Almonds. Found my menu from the plane, LOL, much easier now. As always we taste each others food and I was amazed at how succulent the chicken breast was - the rice was just right and well seasoned and the Romaine tasted nice too - I have never had it cooked, so that was another first.

My dinner plate

Roast Beef with Mixed Pickles and Pumpkin Ginger Pie with English Mustard Sauce. The Roast Beef was cooked nearly all the way through, but still tender, Mixed Pickles were just that, mixed pickles, but the taste of the Pumpkin Ginger Pie was amazing. And the Mustard Sauce went well with the Roast Beef.

Dessert was Treacle Tart, English Cake with Golden Syrup. Nearly as good as my aunt in London makes it - and that means a lot!

We had soft drinks this time, since we still had to go through immigration and pick up a rental car.
The rest of the flight was uneventful and we landed right on time at 6.40pm. Since we had travelled business class we were first to disembark and got in line for immigration. It took nearly an hour to get to an officer and being allowed into the country. When we got to customs we had to go and have our luggage scanned - it was just joining another line, but this one went quickly and since there was nothing from interest in our suitcase we were allowed to move on.
Off to the Dollar rental car! Boy - the line there was the longest I have ever seen at an airport! It took more than an hour to get to an agent to hand in our voucher. And there were 9!! agents working!
When we finally had been assigned a car we headed for the carpark, but we were a little disappointed with the car they had given us, so I went back to ask if we could exchange it for another one. We could, but it meant more waiting.
When we finally got out of the airport it was way past 9pm. But who cares what time it is when you are on the way to stay with Mickey!
We checked into the resort shortly after 10pm, had a VERY tired CM assigning our room and handing over the giftcard - yeah!!! more money for Mickey. Our room was in building 35, Trinidad South. We went to check out the room and it was WOW!! Only negative point - the room smelled like it had not been aired in some time, but we let it air out after we came back from the shopping spree and it all was well again.

Here are a few shots of the room!

We loved our pirate room, but we were hungry! Since the foodcourt was open until 11 we walked over. Unfortunately they were already closing stations down and I am not big on leftovers, so we decided to head back to the car and go to DTD to pick up some Earl of Sandwich food and some "groceries" from the Hess gas station across from DTD.
Earl was nearly empty and we were served immediately.

We shared The Original 1762 - fresh roasted beef, cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce - yummy as always

and a Tuna Melt - albacore tuna salad and Swiss cheese. Well, what can you get wrong with this one - it was wonderful!

We took them back to the resort, but before that we went to the Hess gas station to pick up some drinks and snacks. To be honest - in Austria shopping at a gas station is the most expensive thing. Well, the Hess had the best deal on soft drinks and snacks all week long. (And we went to Publix and Walmart!) Needless to say we needed some doughnuts as well - they sell Krispy Kreme there and so we filled a box!

IMG_9999.jpg

Unfortunately when the photo was taken we had already eaten half of them, LOL!

Upon arrival back at the resort we were in for a BIG surprise! When we opened the door there was this on one of the beds!!!

A sweet little surprise from our friends Mary Ellen and Joe! The hat was filled with pirate goodies, a necklace, some tattoos, "jewels" and lots of chocolate! The perfect start to a perfect vacation!!

I'm still in awe of the airplane food! Thank you so much for posting these!

This was by far the best airplane food we ever had, LOL! I thought it was worth posting - as "on the way to Disney" food. :goodvibes

Wolfgang Puck's Express (yeah, we did it again ), Goofy's and the Wave

Sorry for being absent for some time, but real life just got the better of me. Coming back from our Disney trip on Sunday afternoon, we both had to go back to work on Monday and in the meantime I needed to do some more prep work for school and correct a million exercise books (well, not really a million, but sometimes it feels like that :lmao: ).
So finally here is an update!

Day 2, Sunday Feb 15, started early. We took a peek out the window and the skies were picture postcard blue and the sun was shining! What a change from the rain, wind and snow we had experienced at home.
We had the rest of the doughnuts and some coffee for breakfast and at 9.30 we headed out to the car park to go to DTD. The parking lot was starting to fill up already - yikes!
We parked near the World of Disney store and had a look inside. Boy, did they have a lot of new things - thank god for the 200$ gift card that came with the reservation.
After we had our chocolate fix from Ghirardelli's we went towards Wolfgang Puck's Express.

There were actually NO people in line, so we placed our order.

IMG_0011.jpg

I had been craving the Spicy Chicken and Sweet Peppers - all natural chicken, roasted red and yellow peppers, mozzarella, tomoatoes, leeks, crushed red chilis and fresh cilantro for a long time and it felt good ordering it, LOL!
The pizza was just like I remembered it - disneyliscious!!

IMG_0016.jpg

Tom tried the Chicken Melt - Spicy all-natural chicken, onions, sautéed red and yellow peppers and oven-roasted tomatoes tossed with tortilla sauce, topped with mozzarella, rolled in a warm, all-natural garlic focaccia bread. Served with a side of tomato salad and homemade chips. It was SO yummy!

And for dessert I finally got Tom to try "heaven on earth".

IMG_0017.jpg

Yes, he finally got to enjoy Wolfgang Puck's out of this world creamy and silky Creme Brulee! There was nothing left of it when we left, :rotfl:

We actually went straight over to Goofy's Candy Co, to pick up some snacks. While we waited for our treats to be done we had a good look around the store and this caught my eye!

IMG_0027.jpg

Isn't that Minnie apple cute?

So, here are our treats!

IMG_0683.jpg

IMG_0684.jpg

Marshmallows dipped in dark chocolate, oreo cookie crumbs and chopped pecans and drizzled with milk chocolate. Yum!

IMG_0685.jpg

Pretzel rods dipped in dark chocolate, crushed pecans, oreo crumbs and butterfinger crumbs, drizzled with milk chocolate! Heavenly.

Being in a very good mood we went back to WoD to use the gift card we had received and which was burning a hole in my pocket!
Entering the store I remembered that they offered a free lanyard and pin for AP holders, so I thought why not pick up another souvenir. We showed our APs and with the lanyards came another surprise - a voucher, only good that very day for an additional 10% off of all purchases, when showing the AP! Boy, did we shop big - 20% off is really perfect for a shopaholic. So we did lots of shopping before we went back to the resort to chill for a while before our dinner at the Wave!

DDP:
WPE: 2 CS $38,50
GCC: 2 SC $ 6,10

Paid for DDP $ 560 - 38,50 - 6,10 = $ 515,40!

Next up: dinner at the Wave

Ooh, Karin, I am very excited to see a new DR from you!

I know just what you mean about the upgrade being like the year of a million dreams. I have flown from the States to Europe a number of times for work, and only once did I make it to 1st class, on a flight from Budapest to Dublin, which is only 2 or 3 hours long. Wow, was that ever different from economy! :rotfl2: I can only dream of that luxury on a transatlantic flight - maybe someday!

I like the way you think when ordering treats at Goofy's - dipped in dark chocolate and drizzled with milk chocolate - no wasting time on caramel for you, just chocolate all the way! :thumbsup2

I LOVE your dining report!

disneyliscious - That is the best word I've heard in a long time!!

Can't wait to read more! :thumbsup2
