Dinner on the plane and some late night sandwiches from Earl of Sandwich, a peek into our pirate room and a surprise from a friend!
Flying business class gives you a lot of space and it took quite some time to figure out how the different functions of the seats worked - you could even turn them into a bed and we took a little nap after our HUGE lunch.
Later we watched some of the onboard movies and TV shows before they started serving dinner.
Tom's dinner plate
Roasted breast of Poulard with Romaine Lettuce and Basmati Rice with Almonds. Found my menu from the plane, LOL, much easier now. As always we taste each others food and I was amazed at how succulent the chicken breast was - the rice was just right and well seasoned and the Romaine tasted nice too - I have never had it cooked, so that was another first.
My dinner plate
Roast Beef with Mixed Pickles and Pumpkin Ginger Pie with English Mustard Sauce. The Roast Beef was cooked nearly all the way through, but still tender, Mixed Pickles were just that, mixed pickles, but the taste of the Pumpkin Ginger Pie was amazing. And the Mustard Sauce went well with the Roast Beef.
Dessert was Treacle Tart, English Cake with Golden Syrup. Nearly as good as my aunt in London makes it - and that means a lot!
We had soft drinks this time, since we still had to go through immigration and pick up a rental car.
The rest of the flight was uneventful and we landed right on time at 6.40pm. Since we had travelled business class we were first to disembark and got in line for immigration. It took nearly an hour to get to an officer and being allowed into the country. When we got to customs we had to go and have our luggage scanned - it was just joining another line, but this one went quickly and since there was nothing from interest in our suitcase we were allowed to move on.
Off to the Dollar rental car! Boy - the line there was the longest I have ever seen at an airport! It took more than an hour to get to an agent to hand in our voucher. And there were 9!! agents working!
When we finally had been assigned a car we headed for the carpark, but we were a little disappointed with the car they had given us, so I went back to ask if we could exchange it for another one. We could, but it meant more waiting.
When we finally got out of the airport it was way past 9pm. But who cares what time it is when you are on the way to stay with Mickey!
We checked into the resort shortly after 10pm, had a VERY tired CM assigning our room and handing over the giftcard - yeah!!! more money for Mickey. Our room was in building 35, Trinidad South. We went to check out the room and it was WOW!! Only negative point - the room smelled like it had not been aired in some time, but we let it air out after we came back from the shopping spree and it all was well again.
Here are a few shots of the room!
We loved our pirate room, but we were hungry! Since the foodcourt was open until 11 we walked over. Unfortunately they were already closing stations down and I am not big on leftovers, so we decided to head back to the car and go to DTD to pick up some Earl of Sandwich food and some "groceries" from the Hess gas station across from DTD.
Earl was nearly empty and we were served immediately.
We shared The Original 1762 - fresh roasted beef, cheddar and creamy horseradish sauce - yummy as always
and a Tuna Melt - albacore tuna salad and Swiss cheese. Well, what can you get wrong with this one - it was wonderful!
We took them back to the resort, but before that we went to the Hess gas station to pick up some drinks and snacks. To be honest - in Austria shopping at a gas station is the most expensive thing. Well, the Hess had the best deal on soft drinks and snacks all week long. (And we went to Publix and
Walmart!) Needless to say we needed some doughnuts as well - they sell Krispy Kreme there and so we filled a box!
Unfortunately when the photo was taken we had already eaten half of them, LOL!
Upon arrival back at the resort we were in for a BIG surprise! When we opened the door there was this on one of the beds!!!
A sweet little surprise from our friends Mary Ellen and Joe! The hat was filled with pirate goodies, a necklace, some tattoos, "jewels" and lots of chocolate! The perfect start to a perfect vacation!!
Next up: Wolfgang Puck's Express (yeah, we did it again

), Goofy's and the Wave
