This might sound off the wall, but I could swear up and down that when I went to Disneyland and rode Pirates of the Caribbean, there was seating for a restaurant right at the beginning of the ride-- not in the loading area, but afterwards. Am I crazy?? I hope I'm not, but someone let me know!! Thanks so much!

blue bayou, yes.. it's themed to be outside in the bayou.. fireflies all over, etc.

You're not crazy. It's called Blue Bayou, and it does overlook the first part of POTC. Best atmosphere in DL!

:welcome: to the DIS, JacksLilWench! We have a separate board for Disneyland discussions, so I've moved this thread there. :)

If you want to eat there you will need to call for priority seating.

They are correct- its Blue Bayou. Its very difficult to get a reservation so you either need to do that first thing or call ahead.

I recommend calling ahead. I was lucky enough to get a walk up reservation last Friday night, but I think that's because the crowds were much lighter due to the rain. It is expensive, but the atmsosphere is pretty cool.

I have always loved that restaurant, not for the food, but for the atmosphere. Love the banjo and the crickets and the evening. Haven't been there in years so we will be eating there for our anniversary. :lovestruc

welcome, this was one of my first questions I posted also!!:thumbsup2
I have to warn you though, although this is your first post and first question, it will be by far your last. This group is so welcoming and so so so great at answering all questions big and small.

This restaraunt sounds so nice, is it very kids friendly? i ahve kids ranging from 11 to 2 ( 4 kids) we would probably split plate charge as the servings look huge, i know that if you split you also both get the soup or salad, does this have to be the same for both people?
Thanks

Blue Bayou! It's a great restaurant theme and the food is pretty good! :thumbsup2

It's fine for kids. OK there are some people who have had servers with a bad reaction to the kids, but the majority of us have had a perfectly fine time. Of course since we are the Dis people, we are absolutely perfect, and if Junior squawks we take him right out, and so on and so forth, which makes restaurants happier. :)

The split plate thing...there have been some servers not getting the salad/soup for each person splitting...but I've been there twice (sept '07 and may '08) and we've split and we've each gotten our own salad. I don't know if they can be different, assuming you get a GOOD server, because we're vegetarian and the soup isn't (neither is the salad, unless you have the sausage kept off) and we only ask for that salad.
