I tried to snag a last minute BBB appointment for my daughter on her birthday but as expected it was all booked up. Instead, they offered a mermaid makeover at the Pirates League. This is actually even better as she loves mermaids and wants to be a professional one when she grows up! LOL.

I actually did not know of this existence - does anyone have any experiences or photos to share?

My daughter is going to freak out - I am so excited!!

Oh it's adorable!! We just did it for the first time this past November and our daughter enjoyed it more than BBB!

They do an amazing make up job, the whole face with mermaid style scales around the eyes. They do a twisty hair style with a "magic" flower clip. They paint her nails and she gets a few goodies, a sash, a necklace and all the makeup and nail polish used on her she keeps. The whole experience is "in character" and super cute. We brought her Ariel costume that we got a few months prior from the Disney store to complete the look ;)

She got sooo much attention for this make over. Everyone asked if it was from BBB but nope! We also went to meet Ariel right afterwards and let me say that was a magical moment for her, Ariel gave her a lot of attention for the makeover and "matching" tail. I'd recommend doing that right after, make a full experience of it all. Have a blast!!!! :)

In September my daughter did BBB and my son did a Pirates League. I wish I would have done the Pirates League for my daughter. She was asking about for it afterwords. The mermaid makeover is super cute. We loved the atmosphere much better at Pirates League better.

I had no idea this existed either! I'll have to see if my DD wants to do this instead of BBB again!

My daughter did it last week and LOVED it. She's 10 and has never been interested in BBB, but we were waiting for Pirates one day last week and she asked if she could try and get in. They even had same day appointments the day we checked. She loved it!

Here's a photo of my daughter as a mermaid! We walked-in during last Labor Day weekend. She had a wonderful time!

We did this last September. DD was supposed to be a mermaid as well, but changed her mind at the last minute, so I was the lone mermaid among the pirates in our group.

We all really had a great time and the makeover was quick and easy. My dd2 stole my necklace and hair clip after we got home and they have both stood up to the "use" of a 3 year old.

We'll do it again at some point.

My daughters did it last May...much better value than BBB if your girls are into mermaids. After the makeover, one of them got called on stage for Jack Sparrow's show, and he had some mermaid related jokes for her.

I did this a few years back. :) DH and DS did the pirate makeover and I went mermaid.

From afar the eye makeup doesn't make sense. Closeups show the scales and glistening quality of it. It's very cool.

For those who have done this, talk to me about the face paint or makeup they use for the mermaid makeover. Does it stay on well throughout the day or sort of "melt" down the face with heat and sweat? Did anyone's daughter find it itchy and want it washed off? Conversely, was it pretty easy to get off with standard face wash (i.e. Cetaphil) and makeup remover?

I just booked Pirate's League and I think DD will like the experience, but I don't want her to do it if the makeup will be itchy or uncomfortable for her.

We had the Pirate one done in the beginning of September. I do not remember it melting off or itching him too much. He still had it on at the end of the day. We just used regular soap and water to remove it. It was pretty easy to wash off.

Hmm why was I not aware of this?? We have BBB booked in July but DD loves mermaids, and wants to be a mermaid when she grows up. May have to change this!

Here's a picture of the outfit that you can purchase with the mermaid makeover. This was taken last November. It was about 90 degrees and they were done by 330 and the make up lasted the rest of the evening image.jpeg

Our group of 20 somethings were 2 inches from doing the mermaid package last week but we didn't think early enough to book it!
I do have a friend that works there and she gave us our pirate names & such and that alone was an incredible experience, and it's definitely on my list of things to do! It's also cheaper, yes?

It didn't melt off of my 10 year old in mid-February. She was able to easily wash it off with California Baby soap.
