Pirates Cruise Poem

We are leaving for WDW in 3 days. This will be a difficult trip for my family. My dad died on May 31 and we were all going to WDW to celebrate my parents 40th wedding anniversary and my nephews birthday. We know my dad would still want us to go. I booked my nephews for the Pirates Cruise for their birthday presents this year and I put a little gift bag together for both of them. My mom's very good at writing poems so I asked her to write one to give to them for the Pirates Cruise and this is what she came up with:

On August 16, we’ll be leaving again,
for Walt Disney World, Epcot, Universal, and MGM.
In two short weeks we will probably see,
All the sights there can possibly be.

We’ll go to Miami and the Florida Keys,
We’ll play on the beach, & maybe sail the seas.
We’ll see Susan, and Jerry, and Aunt Polly too,
We’ll see their new house and swim in their pool.

We’ll go to the parks and we’ll sweat from the heat,
We’ll ride on the rides, and buy things to eat.
There will be ice-cream and candy and fun to be had,
And Britt will be walking, not carried by Dad.

We’ll try to find time to hit Blizzard Beach,
and slide on the slides going down with a screech.
If that’s not enough we’ll try Typhoon Lagoon,
Play in the sand and water until way past noon.

There’s one special thing for Brandon and Britt,
It’ll be August 19th, for that real special trip.
They’ll depart on a ship and sail in the sun,
There’ll be pirate’s gold, snakes, and all kinds of fun.

Just read your map, and follow the clues,
Have all kinds of fun, on this real special cruise.
Keep your eyes open, whatever’s your pleasure,
Do your best to find the hidden treasure.

Aunt Loni arranged this for two special boys,
She knew they’d have fun, and make all kinds of noise.
They’ll shriek and hollar, and jump with glee,
When they set sail on this ship and head out to sea.

It’s a fun planned trip, as you well know,
So put on your bandanna and be ready to go.
You’ll hunt for the treasure, with nothing to lose,
Brandon and Britt are going on a Pirate’s Cruise.

Loni, that is a beautiful poem that she wrote! Thank you so much for sharing this! I can only imagine how bittersweet the trip will be for you all. I do remember my first trip after my mom died and while I remembered her at some of our "special" places, I didn't feel overly sad... it was like she made sure we had a good time there. Odd sounding I am sure, but I do hope you all have a wonderful trip. {{{hugs}}} to you all!
