I just discovered that Pirates (along with many other things) will be closed during our visit. I kept hearing how much better the DL version is than WDW so were super excited to ride it. How accurate are the refurb opening and closing dates on the Disney website? Do refurbs tend to run long? Any hope of it finishing early or does that ever happen?

Everything is subject to change and there have been some instances of refurbishments being cancelled, postponed, etc., but for the most part, I would go with the information on the Disneyland website as being accurate. In general, I think the dates posted are usually pretty accurate (especially for short to medium length refurbishments), but refurbishments have been extended and sometimes there is a soft opening (mostly if it's a long, major refurbishment). For the pirates refurbishment, I don't expect the attraction to re-open early and if it does, it would probably only be one or two days at most and it might not even be a full re-opening (it could do a soft opening where it's running for part of the day, but not the whole day and not on an announced schedule).

The Pirates refurb is because of its upcoming 50th anniversary (March 16-18), I highly doubt it'll be postponed or finished early.

They make a big deal for a ride anniversary at DL and it is a big opportunity for them to sell a lot of exclusive merchandise.

Presuming that you mean the 50th anniversary of Pirates of the Caribbean and not of Disneyland itself. :)

That's so true!

Las time I was there it said Soarin was closed but the whole time I was there is was open. I even kept checking while in the park to see if it was still wrong online.

Last time we went to WDW Pirates there was supposed to be under renovation, but it must have soft-opened early because we rode it. I'm hoping for the same luck in early March at Disneyland.

So are you saying it will probably be back up and running by then? Thanks!
