I am trying to decide if I should book my DS for this when we go in December - He turns 4 in August and I KNOW he would love it, but I am very concerned about the kids on a boat thing without me or DH.

SO, for those of you who have had your kids on it - am I being neurotic? :rolleyes1 (which is usually the case for me)

Also, what is the child to CM count? and are the CM's who are doing the cruise also responsible for driving the boat or is there also a captain?

TIA

There are 24 kids (I think - close to that anyway) and 3 CMs.

They wear lifejackets the whole time. No taking off the lifejackets!

The kids buddy up. Don't leave your buddy!

They've been doing this for years and there haven't been any huge problems.

My daughter went at just turned four and had a lovely time. She did have her just turned five brother along with her. Not sure how I'd feel sending a four year old alone.

My kids have done this twice and love it! First time dd was 4, and second time ds just turned 4. Now there are three of them so they stuck together, but I saw kids who were alone and they were "buddied up" with another child. They wore life vests and the CMS were great! I wouldn't hesitate to send them on this.

My dd (5) just did this in May and had a great time! My Mom was totally neurotic about it, "I would never leave my child" kind of thing. I told her "If Disney really felt there was a risk of a child being hurt, abducted, etc. they wouldn't do it. It would be too much of a risk for a company that is probably already the subject of many lawsuits, etc." I didn't worry about it at all. And, another great thing happened: we met up with another DIS family who had a dd the same age! They were "buddies" and walked down to the boat with their arms wrapped around each other the whole time! We got some great pics of the two of them, all smiles!

I just wanted to add that there are 3 CM's and atleast 1 of them is lifeguard vertified.

I also don't know if this was on purpose or not (probably not) but when DS went in December, there was one of the lifeguard patrol boats "playing" with them for a good portion of the time. He would slowly circle around them and the kids would all yell pirate things, like ARGGGGHHHH, to him.
