Hi

I'm considering going to the Pirate and Princess party, but I'm not sure of the point really. It's just a pirate themed MK? Do you have to dress up? Do most people dress up, or no?

We probably wouldn't have anything special to wear. ha-ha. i.e. pirate stuff.

Finally, are the lines shorter for rides??? Thanks!!!

One more I guess - How long before should one buy? Does it sell out?

The whole point is the pirate and princess theming. You don't have to dress up, but it's fun. :)

The lines ARE shorter, but all FP machines are turned off.

It didn't sell out in March, so I wouldn't anticipate too much.

Thanks. Maybe there will be some reviews of the early ones before I go, and I can judge how much shorter the lines are. It does sound fun though, with slightly shorter lines, and yeah it just sounds fun almost like a Grad Nite or something.

Ewww... Grad Nite. I've heard that's a nightmare.

I'd not say it's like Grad Night - more like the Halloween Party, just differently themed.

The fireworks are great. I have photos of the fireworks, parade, etc. here http://www.mousesteps.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogsection&id=7&Itemid=37

I know BradK has tons of character shots.

It's hard to tell what the lines will be like in August. I expect it to be busier than January, but not bad at all. Even the lines at Halloween parties I've been to haven't been long, and those parties are very well attended.

Just wanted to add that we weren't going to go to the PnP party back in Feb, but it was the night we won the castle suite stay and we got to go for free. It was so much fun, looking back I would definately spend the extra $ to do it. The fireworks alone were worth the price of admission. The parade was great too. One of the CM's dressed up like a pirate princess chased my DS's around with a sword until they "caught" her and chased her back. This went on for about 15min- she was great! The little princess courts and pirate lairs with the jewlery and "treasures" (chocolate dobloons) were so cute and fun too. My boys (7.5, 7.5 and 2 yo) loved it. I would definately reccommend going. Have a great time!

Wow. It sounds better and better. I think I'll make it some of my main Magic Kingdom time at WDW, to make the MK time more special, since I'm used to DL.

Thank you for all the reviews!

Im so jealous!! You won a night in the Castle???? This would be my family's dream......You are a blessed lady!!!

Has anyone who attended the pirate and princess party also attended a character dinner before hand? Just trying to figure out if I should book one or not?

You could, but you'll be seeing lots of characters throughout the park. Your options for character dinners at MK (where the party is held) are Pooh at Crystal Palace, Minnie & Friends at Liberty Tree Tavern, and Princesses at teh Castle. TIP!: Also, if you plan on staying for a while, make sure to see the second parade instead of the first. Most people see the first showing of the parade, so the lines for the rides, which are already short, are even shorter! (Also time to stock up on candy!):goodvibes Yum

Thanks for the reply, I think I will skip the character dinner. If anyone has any other tips on the pirate and princess party, I would greatly appreciate them. Thanks!

We did Liberty Tree Tavern before the party... we had a 5:00 dinner to give us plenty of time. Excellent food as well.

LTT is a great dinner before the parties but you may find it hard to get a slot - it's popular before parties. I have a 5:45 ADR for before the 9/3 P&P Party

As far as tips -

The park was so slow in February, it's hard to know exactly what it will be like in August. The best place to see the fireworks is in the front of the castle, so you can see and hear everything the way it plays out. Character lines may be long, I think ride lines will still be short (they are during the busier Halloween parties).

I was just going to say the same thing. The crowds at the Feb parties are probably not good indicators of what the crowds will be like in August.

The Feb parties were practically a failure and many of us doubted they would do P&P again.

I guess WDW is trying the parties again in August to see if it does better at a different time of year.

Yes I was told the same thing from a friend of mine who went in Feb. We will be attending the Aug. 28th party and have ADR 4:30pm at Tony's on the DDP. This is the 1st time for us, so we are hoping the ride lines are not to bad either.

Are there any special characters out for the party or at least characters dressed up in different attire? I know for the MNSSHP that the characters are dressed up in costumes.

I'm trying to decide if I should try to convince my sister to go to the party with me or not.

Thanks in advance for the information!

Seriously, how many guests dress up? Is it mostly just the kids or do adults tend to dress up too? Would you feel out of place either way? I am dying for my 4-year old to dress up like a pirate but he keeps going back and forth about doing it, so I'm not sure if I should order him a pirate costume now. I am sure they must be available at the park, but probably for a lot more $$. :confused3

We attended the Pirate Princess party on March 5th and it was great.
I would say half of the people there were dressed in pirate and princess attire. The fireworks were awesome and we walked on to all the major rides.
I don't know how the crowds will be in August, but in March it was wonderful.

To Denise:

It looked wet on the ground--did it rain? I was just curious because we want to go on Labor Day (mistake?????), but I hear September is the rainiest month down there and I'd hate to have tickets on hand for a rain out.

Just curious how you dealt with it if it did rain and whether or not it affected your ability to have fun.

Thanks for sharing those awesome pictures!
