The kids asked about riding in the front of the monorail and surprisingly enough THEY GOT TOO. Now, which of the 4 critters would get a chance to ride? Cheergirl Jess, Cell Phone Charlie and Peyton, gave up their chances to let the other kids ride. I was quite impressed that no one got upset. I just was hoping that the ones in the front would behave WITHOUT the adult bouncer to keep them in line! Let’s hope that all these years of whippings and tar & feathering works!! (just teasing)

They LOVED riding the monorail and we got to Ohana’s a tad before 7pm. We checked in, got our vibrating coaster thingy (Princess Erin LOVES to sit on these thingys, what in heaven’s name are we teaching our kids) and got some fun and fuzzy drinks in the lounge waiting for our table. You KNOW you have too many people when you need half of the lounge to chill out! Pirate and “Smiling Jack” Justin started sitting on one another and wrestling and tickling and, sure enough, Justin kicked out, hit a table and caused the fun and fuzzy drinks to go flying! Commander Brad, Pirate and I caught ours, but Bestest Friend Val’s went tumbling!! Eeekkk….at least the glass didn’t break! We got it all cleaned up and figured we better be on our best behavior!!

We got another round of fun and fuzzy drinks and waited some more. I inquired with the hostess about our table. She assured me just a few more minutes! After about 45 minutes the kids started getting restless! So we sent them to wander the beach and resort. I inquired with the hostess and she assured me JUST A FEW MORE MINUTES! After an hour, the adults started getting restless. I inquired with the hostess and she assured me. JUST A FEW MORE MINUTES! After an hour and a half the kids were getting sleepy as the day was catching up to them and I was continued to be told, “we are working on your table, just a few more minutes!”

Two hours later, I lost it! I felt I had been patient, polite and accommodating! I wanted my table and I wanted it and hour ago and I wanted to speak with the manager that they conveniently couldn’t find! Our drinks waitress was quite concerned for us and understood our plight and found the manager for us. After explaining all the issues that we had gone through for the past 2 hours I lost it and ended up in tears when I saw my children, standing up trying to see the WISHES fireworks from where they were standing in the back of the lounge.

It took all I could do to restrain myself from saying things I shouldn’t and I know my children needed to see me handle things correctly. Pirate wandered off, cause HE WOULD HAVE said the things he better NOT say! Commander Brad and Bestest Friend Val, just stood there not quite sure of what to do, Brad wanted so much to help fix the problem, but his hands were tied!

The manager was extremely apologetic for everything and took complete and totally responsibility for the errors that took place and offered to comp the entire meal, even though I was pretty sure the kids wouldn’t eat anything because they were so tired. Here I was a weeping woman in the middle of the restaurant with all these people probably thinking I was a raving lunatic. At that point I didn’t care. You have to understand, that it takes a great great deal of issues to get me upset, but when I am upset, I AM UPSET! After wiping my tears and calming down, I graciously accepted her offer and we took our seats. We were at 2 tables but at that point, it really didn’t matter. The kids bounced back and tried to make me smile and Commander Brad leaned over and hugged me trying to get me to shake the entire thing off!

I am one of those people that like things to go right. This didn’t go right!! At this point I couldn’t even remember the Disney Mantra..lol The meal was of course delicious as usual. Ohana’s is my family’s number one personal favorite meal at WDW, Guess that is probably why I got so upset. Something like this can happen at any other restaurant but NOT MY OHANAS!! After the meal, most all the children were wiped. A few of them were sound asleep! Now, to just get them in the car and get home and to bed.

WAITTTTTTTT!?!?!?!?! The car isn’t here! It is in the MGM Parking lot! We talk to the Valet Manager at the Poly about catching a bus or the monorail and OF COURSE they are all done running for the evening because it is too late! This is something that Pirate and I had not planned on when we came up with our brilliant plan! That thought gets me silently grumbling again about the over 2-hour delay at Ohana’s.

I force a smile on my face and figure ok, we will catch a cab. We see a large van and flag him down and well, ok great plan, but poor execution! The van can only hold 7. Let’s see, which seven gets to go?? Come ON we have 11!! Good grief! After quick thinking Commander Brad comes up with the idea of the cab taking 2 of us to the cars and then us coming back to pick the rest of the circus up! Now THAT is an idea!! Why didn’t I think of that! Pirate has Princess Erin sound asleep in his arms so I grab the car keys and Commander Brad and I are off to the horse races!

I would have been weeping right beside you! How frustrating! I am really enjoying your reports. We will have 11 (7 grown ups, 4 kids: 5, 5, 3, & 2) on our New Year's trip. I know I'll need the mantra as well, I'll start practicing now!

WOW! That's an unacceptable delay. I'm sorry that that happened. THanks for the report!

Hey Corky.......thanks for the kind words.. you know even though it was unacceptable, I STLL love this place! It has that certain type of flair and the food is so yummy! As i look back and think about it.... I just hope, my kids wont be embarrassed of me forever..:) Have a great day!

Ell......mantra practice..:) Youve will have a great trip with your 11. It has its moments, but there is NOTHING quite as fun to be the traveling party! The kids and adults bond fantastically! Have a great trip!
