Pirate Parade

My DD5 is booked into the Pirate League and is looking forward to taking part in the 4pm parade. A couple of quick questions:-

1. Is there time to see the 3.30pm main parade and then go up to the pirate parade or do you need to be in Adventureland before 4pm?
2. Do they children walk in the parade themselves or do parents walk beside them?

Festival of Fantasy, the MK parade, is at 3:00 each day.
