Sorry, who's Zarina?

As to what to wear - as long as it seems "pirate-y" I think you'll be fine. There are lots of Peter Pans, Tinkerbelles, Wendys, etc at the Pirate night event.

Zarina the Pirate Fairy? That would look awesome! Goes with a lot of the Tinkerbelles you will see around.
From what I saw on Pirate night - anything goes that fits into a Pirate theme. Or nothing pirate at all!

Zarina is the Pirate Fairy from the Tinkerbelle and the Pirate Fairy movie.

My wife has considered Zarina as a costume, and I've seen The Dread Pirate Roberts on more than one occasion, so who cares how esoteric it is? Do it! :D

I want to know if a lot of people dress up, or is it just a few?

Only the fun people... Ha ha. Just kidding. A relative few are in full costumes. Many people wear a pirate tee shirt or some type of piratical accoutrement (eye patch, etc.) When in full costume, I remember hearing many comments like "we need to do that next time" so I think if more people knew what to expect, you would see more full costumes. Another factor is luggage space. It is easy for us because we drive to Port Canaveral. We are not overly concerned about luggage space and for our first cruise we had a dedicated pirate costume suitcase.

My sons were 11 and 12 on our first Disney cruise. They were excited about Pirate Night and the costumes. When they realized that night that so few people were actually in costumes, they were a bit embarrassed. They changed clothes after dinner and have not worn costumes since. My daughter loves it and will always be in a costume.

I would suggest you do whatever makes you happy regardless if people get it. You get it and that's what matters.

Make it your own. Keep it comfortable (might be sunburnt) and have fun with it. These were our costumes.

So, not that many people dress up in costume for Pirate's Night?

Lots of people dress up for Pirate Night. But you will see a wide variety in the degree of costume. There will be no lack of people in full- on, elaborate pirate costumes. And then there will be people like me on my first DCL cruise where I wore tan capris and a white ruffled shirt. Last cruise, we were in full costume.

Good to know. I was just going to get little pirate shirts made, but my hubby wants to go in full costume! I was worried we would be in the minority! LOL! pirate:

There were lots of people on our last cruise that dressed up. Outfits ranged anywhere from a white t-shirt and a bandana to full on costumes. We had a lot of fun interacting with both the other guests and the characters. Dress up and have fun with it. We are really looking forward to our Oct and Dec cruises later this year. The only downside is our costumes are rather bulky so we pack another suitcase for the costumes but that gives us extra room for souvenirs.

I'll be the first to admit that I underestimated the popularity of Pirates Night. My friend and I were walking around the gift shops before dinner when I noticed that everyone was dressed up. After a few drinks I got in the spirit and wandered into one of the gift shops and demanded "Every pirate thing" they had. Needless to say, I walked out fully decked out and about $50 poorer.

My children were like this, 'not cool' so didn't want to bring anything, and on the day ' not cool' not dress up, then 5pm, Hit the shops buy anything pirate...

Only $50 poorer? I'd say you did pretty well.
