Pirate night on wonder????

I read on another post that the Captain indicated that the Wonder was being equipped with fireworks sometime in February so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we'll have them on our Feb 27th cruise! I was trying to debate whether or not to dress in our costumes for dinner or just the deck party. I think we're going to go for it. It's a theme night, the waiters are dressed. We'll just start the party early and that way get maximum benefit out of dragging our costumes along. Sounds like a good time! Can't come soon enough for me!

When did this start...is it temporary or permanetn? We are going on the May 8th wonder and my kids would get a kick out of this. Is there a change in the menu?

Well, it started long enough ago for a BUNCH of the 10-day cruisers to dress up. It took the place of the tropical night, although it is sort of a tropical pirate night...

I am on the Wonder right now and Pirate night is going on as I type. It is quite festive. They sell a lot of pirate garb. Not to many people dress for the occassion. They do all wear the bandanas we got at dinner. There is no fireworks at this time. That will start in Feb (supposedly). It has been an entertaining evening. Dinner menus are rolled up treasure maps.

They are dancing and partying up a storm ouside the cove cafe. :cool1: Fun for everyone. There are a few people in wheelchairs participating as well.

What is pirate's night? I'm confused. I thought the party was during dinner. Is this a party on Deck 9 after dinner? If so, how do the late seating people get to go to the party? We don't want to miss this?

Good question about the second seating people... is the party late at night?
I don't want to miss it.
Also, I too would like to know about adults dressing up at Dinner. Will we feel weird? DH and I have pirate costumes that we wear to MNNSHP.
we'd love to wear them to dinner and the party.

My Family is ready! We also have our costumes from MNSSHP.
Two Questions:
1. When does the Deck party take place? After the late dinner seating?

2. Me and my family are going to wear our costumes. Are any adults going to also dress up? I think it's a perfect time - lots of strangers that you'll most likely never see again; in the Pirates haven of the Bahamas...etc.

We were on the late seating rotation 3 weeks ago, and we didn't miss a minute of the deck party. By all means, wear your costumes. You'll fit right in.

Do they have tea with Wendy on Pirates night also or did they change it to another night? Thank You, Marie

Have really toyed with the idea of getting black t-shirts printed with white lettering saying "Aaaargh!" or something very pirate-y. LOL! However, if we are scheduled for Triton's that night, it might not be appropriate? If we bring anything, it won't be anything too drastic. Don't think I'll put out the money for real costumes or anything although it does sound like fun. Might check with OrientalTrading.com to see if they have any accessories.

The party took place right after second seating "should" get over. We were a bit slow and were still up on deck in plenty of time to see the characters arrive, etc.

I am so hoping that when we go in May they will have the fireworks all set up and ready to go on the Wonder.

Just back from the 1/30 4-day Wonder....they are doing the Pirates' night on both the 3- and 4-day trips.

Also, the fireworks are not slated to begin until March, I believe. Someone posted earlier that the Captain told them they wouldn't be getting the equipment until February.

We dressed up at dinner and then went to the show like that! I went to Party City and bought an eyepatch/hoop earring set for $2 for everyone! It's really, really fun! You will get to keep your menu (rolled up and tied to resemble a treasure map) and your bandanna (of course)! Bring your camera and camcorder!

Be warned though...we didn't realize how late the actual take over of the ship would begin...the party starts around 9:45-10 p.m., but Captain Hook doesn't arrive until after 10:30...my 8-year old went back to the cabin because he fell asleep on the Goofy pool, but my four-year old stayed up and believed the whole thing hook, line, and sinker!

It's a great time! If you want more specific details, let me know, and I'll post exactly what they do...

Dcanoli- could you please post more details and tell us what characters appeared? Was Donald and Daisy Duck There? THANKS :rotfl:

Okay, here's what I can remember; others might want to add additional details....

Well, first of all, it is a very exciting night! DCL does it best to pump everyone up! As I said earlier, when you arrive at your assigned restaurant, they give you a red bandana that says, "Pirates IN the Carribean Night," and the menu is printed on a treasure map that is rolled up and tied with string. You are free to keep both as a reminder of your evening! I went to Party City before the trip and bought an eye patch and earring set for $2, and we wore everything together. We didn't dress up in pirates' costumes, but I made sure everyone had on black of some kind. (I've seen pictures of some people that wear black t-shirts with a skull and cross-bone symbol on them.)

After the second show and dinner finish, it is time to head up to the Goofy pool for the Pirates' Night party! They cover the Goofy pool (DUH) and they have a DJ up there playing light-hearted dance songs. On our cruise, they had two CMs (girls) dressed as "wenches" (I guess) dancing along and teaching everyone line dances.

Let me tell you this, though....after reading all through these boards, I expected the party to start THEN--meaning the SHOW! However, be warned--the "show" won't start until about 10:30. As I said above, my eight-year old was worn out by then, and he fell asleep sitting on the pool. We sent him back to my MIL's room to go to bed. However, my five-year old was dressed in his Captain Hook Halloween costume, his CH hat, his eye patch, bandana, and a gun we had bought at the POC ride on a previous trip to WDW. I had already been building this party up, so he knew what to expect, and he was on the lookout for PIRATES!!!

At about 10:30, the music suddenly stops, and the lights go dark, and they put a skull and cross-bones up on the smokestack. Captain Hook is on one side of Deck 10, and Mr. Smee is on the other side. They are flanked on either side by CMs dressed as pirates. They announce to all of us that they are taking over the ship and turning it into a pirate ship! OH NO!

The music immediately changes to hard rock and roll (i.e., Queen's, "We Will Rock You," AC/DC's, "You Shook Me All Night Long," etc.). At some point, they confiscated several men out of the audience (about 10 or so), and they parade them on stage. One by one they make them come and we "vote" on who is the "best" pirate.

My five-year old was so scared at first. He stood right up and starting shooting all the pirates. Also, at one point--I can't remember which--a pirate, which I've heard is supposed to be Jack Sparrow (though they never said that at any time and he certainly didn't dress up to look like Jack) repels down the smokestack on to the stage!! (That must happen right after CH and MS appear annoucing they're taking over the ship.)

Eventually, Captain Mickey shows up and saves the ship, running the pirates off (or capturing them, I can't remember). I don't remember seeing Donald & Daisy (I'm sorry!!!), but I think there was another character with MM because, again, MM is one side of Deck 10, so I'm thinking there was another character on the other side.

If anyone remembers, help me out!!! :goodvibes

Okay, I think that's about it--after the pirates are taken captive, they have a big buffet with skull ice sculptures! BUT...we were too pooped to partake!!!

When are you guys cruising? And...I hope that helps! Got any more questions? :teeth: :teeth:

Thanks for the pirate info. We are sailing on March 17 on the Wonder, and we are hopeful we will see the show! :cool1:

That just sounds like too much fun! Can't wait! Thanks for sharing. pirate:

I am just a little confused. Are their choices like someone posted on PG1 of a variety of foods, or is it just the Beef Tenderloin that someone else posted.

Is this something you choose to go (sign up for) versus your regular meal?

Was the "Party" just the entertainment described, or was their also food there?

Thanks to all. Hopefully they will keep this for the 3 night cruise!!

Okay, I've got a menu right here in front of me, and I'll copy what it says. Also, the party is mostly entertainment, but they set long tables up on either side of the Goofy pool and decorate them in a pirate's theme, and they have all kinds of food, not just desserts, on them. BTW, I guess you could CHOOSE to not go to Pirates' night but all three restaurants serve the same menu. I guess you could hit Pluto's, Pinnochio's, Palo's, or room service!
