If I skipped dinner this night would I regret it? I do not want to rush through dinner since it is pirate night( we have late seating). Do they do anything speacial at dinner I would miss. I feel like it is a long day at cozumel then when we get back hit the buffet. ( and snack at the pirate show desert table) I hate to miss the meal if it is special though. I figure by this night we would have dined in all the rest. though

We just came back from the Eastern on the Magic last Saturday & had the late dinner. We had really good food that night (best ribs ever) & they did rush through to get everyone out for the party. Deck 10 was very crowded by the time we got up there. We sat over by the basketball area (9 yr old son was addicted to the basketball hoop) & saw the fireworks great.

The pirate night menu is one of my favorite. I see you will be on the Magic next month so you will get that too. There is also a limbo parade that goes around the dining room to the Baha's version of Yo Ho Yo Ho so it is fun for the kids.

We had late seating but made it out in plenty of time for the party. I even had time to find a bar and get a drink.

As stated, the menu is pretty good that night.

I thought this was the best menu of our entire cruise last week. I had a pasta with shrimp and scallops and it was the best meal.

I thought the dessert was just OK, so if you are worried you could skip that and get dessert at the buffet. They had crepes on the buffet which I love but didn't know they had until I had already opted out of the line and wasn't heading back.

Hallo ;)
I have a question:

Do you dress up like pirates on the pirate night??

If you don't, do the children dress up like pirates??

What about if we have Palo reservations for Pirate night....oops! Reservations are at 8:30. Will we get done in time to get kids from their area and see the fireworks? Also, can you see the fireworks from the Concierge deck?

I'm curious if they still hand out the pirate bandanas for pirate night. Just trying to gauge what we'll need to bring from home. We're on the Halloween cruise, so I know we'll need to do some kind of costume for the kids so we might as well be pirates for a couple nights:)

We all dress up for pirate night...not as much as some of our cruise friends do though. It's lots of fun and you will get some great pictures.

Don't know which ship you will be on but the show on the Magic/Wonder starts around 9:45 with the fireworks around 10:15. On the Dream the fireworks start at 10:30.

They did on the 1/8/11 Magic. I always pack ours from home just in case. They are from 2004 though and the white part on them glows in the dark. The CMs who have been with DCL for a long time comment that it has been a while since they have seen those.

When we went on the MR in 2008 me and DD dressed up as pirates. My brother, his wife and two daughters were also in costumes. My DH got some pirate Goofy ears on the ship and wore those. My mom and dad did not dress up.

Last summer for the Baltic we did not dress up. Since this was a three week trip for us we did not have room in the luggage for pirate stuff.

Most likely we will end up dressed up again in Alaska, not sure yet.

There isn't going to be a pirate night on the cruises in Alaska according to most inquiries to DCL.

I intentionally reserved dinner at Palo for pirate night on the Dream. I don't want to miss any of the production shows, and pirate night is the one night there is some other entertainment. I don't recall being that impressed with the pirate dinner menu in the past, and I would rather skip that than the restaurant's regular menu.

:scared1: What??????? Sarah Palin doesn't like fireworks??? :rotfl2:

Just had to get that in ...

Wonder if it's an environmental issue? Might scare the wildlife

If for no other reason - it doesn't get DARK that far north until late at night in the summer.

Some people get very dressed up, while others wear cruise casual to dinner, perhaps adding an eye-patch or some beads. I just wore a pirate-themed hawaiian shirt, but DW wore a pirate costume she picked up after Halloween (which may be hard to do in Norway). No one is going to care if you decide not to dress up as a pirate.

I live in the interior of Alaska where it does not get dark enough at night to "see" fireworks. Perhaps that is why there will not be fireworks....

When you say "show" does that mean if it starts at 9.45 the people with late seating will miss the show but not the fireworks?

Thank you for all the answers )

Yes, we do have Halloween in Norway too. With treaks or treat, and scary kids with false blood all over..........

And, my daughter who is 5 years, are born on Halloween, sow here birtdayparties are very easy to handle.... Witches, wizards, troll and other scary creatures are allways welcome in here birtdayparties........

I saw somebody mention that not all dcl-ships have priate-nights??
I hope that Magic in the trans-anlantic in may 2011 will have one :confused3
