If you don't dress like a pirate on pirate night, what do you wear? Would a Disney Store POC t-shirt and shorts be appropriate? Is the dress code more relaxed on pirate night (not khaki's and polo like on the other nights)? Please let me know what you or others have worn.

Thanks!

On our January cruise, we were clueless about Pirate Night (but still had a great time!). Jan. '08 we're all (15 of us!) dressing up, probably just pirate t-shirts, pirate jewelry, bandanas and scarves I made for all. Should be fun!pirate:

Yes, the dress code is more relaxed on Pirate Night. In addition to your T-Shirt and shorts DCL provides everybody with a Pirate bandana!

Enjoy!

To me, that night will always be tropical night, so DS and I dress for that. :) All this pirate insanity will eventually fade, and hopefully they'll go back to a normal tropical night -- with a live steel pan band again like it should be!

I can dream... :goodvibes

I think you'll have to wait a long time. The tie-in between Disney, Pirates and the Caribbean is so strong. Captain Jack Sparrow is a bona fide Disney superstar. I think we'll see Pirates IN the Caribbean Night for a loooong time to come.

To me, the best moment of our last cruise was watching the first Pirates movie in the Walt Disney Theater while we were at sea. The motion of the ship, being in the Caribbean and the movie all created a terrific moment.

For our Nov '06 cruise the kids dressed as pirates and the adults dressed tropical (hawaiian shirts, flowered dresses, etc.)

I was just looking at some clearance POC t-shirts today, but wasn't sure if I should buy them or not. I found four different options for (adult) females, and started to buy one for me and one for our 14 y.o., but then I worried that they would be inappropriate. Sounds like they will be just fine, since the atmosphere is more casual.

If any ladies are looking for POC sleeveless t-shirt options, look at the clearance section of the pajamas in Kohl's.

We were on DCL for the premiere of POCII on a 7 night and our group of 14 (even the fuddy duddies) dressed like pirates. I was soooo proud.

DH, ds7 and I wore pirate outfits on the 4 night and there was a noticable difference in the lack of pirate gear. Of course the people that did wear gear bonded on lines, dinner and the party.

It's a lot of fun and more comfy than the rest of the clothes I brought.

It was my understanding that "Shorts" have never been acceptablea at dinner in any of the dining rooms. Someone let me know if the rules have been changed. Of course you can change into those Shorts after you have finished your dinner.

I wore a red button down shirt and nice dark jeans with heels-- and my pirate mickey ears!

Here is the Official Disney Dress code for Dinner on the ships from their FAQ's:

What should I wear to dinner?

Dining Dress requirements vary by venue or theme night on your cruise. In general, most meals are "Cruise Casual" -- no shorts, swimwear or tank tops. Most cruises also have special theme nights with additional attire requirements. Here's a breakdown of these events by cruise itinerary.

On 3-night cruises:
First night: cruise casual — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
Second night: pirate or tropical deck party
Final night: "dress-up night" — jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women

On 4-night cruises:
First night: cruise casual — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
One "dress-up night" — jacket for men, dress or pantsuit for women
Final night: cruise casual — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops

On 7-night cruises:
First night: cruise casual — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
Three additional "cruise casual" nights — no shorts, swimwear or tank tops
One pirate or tropical night (deck party)
One formal and one semi-formal night — formal wear for men: tuxedo or suit; for women: gown or dress; semi-formal wear for men: suit/jacket; for women: dress or pantsuit.

Dress for dinner at Palo on all cruises:
Men: dress shirt or jacket
Women: dress or pantsuit

In the spirit of the night.....basically on Pirate Night anything goes......you can certainly wear shorts in the dining rooms on Pirate Night. How on earth could DCL tell you that you can't when a good percentage of people are already in "non comforming attire" aka costumes. Who is to determine if the shorts you are wearing are or are not part of your "costume" for the night.

On the other casual nights shorts are not permitted in the dining rooms and I would not let hubby or son wear them....but on pirate night....definitely!!!

I don't think DCL needs to clarify their website to mention that it is OK to wear shorts on that night....it is sort of a already understood.
