We are actually going to leave Disney property this trip and eat at the Pirate Dinner Adventure. Is it any good? Should I spring for the upgrade to be part of the show?

IMHO the sit down food is not wonderful. Take advantage of the pre-show food (I think it was better!). Get there early to take full advantage of the pre-show & snacks.

If you have a young one - make sure you buy them a seat or they don't get any food in the show. We found this out with our 2yo - I had to share my meal with her (and there is not a lot of it!)

If you throw yourself into the show, participate, cheer, boo etc, I think it is enjoyable (but not WOW). Our kids enjoyed it DS6 and DD 2. From that perspective I think it might be better to upgrade to be able to participate.

Thanks I am taking ds3 and dd16 they are big pirate fans and dd asked for this show. I will remember about the food.

We did the Pirate Dinner 2 years ago and the kids really liked it. We were part of the show and I had pirate costumes made for the kids and they wore them to the show. They really got a lot of attention because of them. The food was okay. But we didn't go for the food, we went to be entertained. I'm sure you will enjoy yourself.
