anyone know anything about the pirate cruise that they offer for kids 4 and up? Just wondering if my son (who will be 4 on trip) will be mentally old enough. I thought it might be something fun for him to do for his birthday. Does it just leave from Port Orleans?

thanks

I think it leaves from Caribbean Beach Resort. I am planning on sending my son who will be 4 1/2. They go by themselves so I think it depends on how comfortable your son is without you. My nephew did it and loved it - I can't remember if he was 4 or 5 though.

There are a few locations - I checked it out for my nephew (8) and niece (4). One is from the Yacht Club (goes around the world showcase), one is from the Grand Floridian (goes on the seven seas lagoon), and one goes from the Caribbean Beach Resort (goes along that river).

There are reviews on www.allearsnet.com, and from what I read it depends on the personality of the kid. My niece will enjoy it, 'cause she's outgoing and she likes to do what her brother does, but I'm not sure she'd go on her own.

My boys did it from the Yacht Club this past April....they were 5 and 6 at the time. They had a blast. They still talk about it and how they went into Epcot without anyone knowing. I think this is something they will want to do again....at all of the ports. I thought they used to do a Pirate Cruise from Port Orleans. I remember reading a review on it once. It is called the Bayou River Cruise. Disney Dining Reservations take care of the reservations for the pirate cruise experiences. You could always call them and confirm if they are still offering the pirate adventure from Port Orleans-Riverside.

My 2 children did the pirate cruise from POR in Jan 08. There were only a few other kids on the boat and they had fun. They were 6/8 years old at the time. They were fed a light lunch. We were given a beeper in case of emergency.

Ty, hon_bunnie! I was considering this for my kids as well, but I'm a paranoid Mom. Knowing I'll have a bepper will make me feel MUCH better! My kids are DS12, DD9, and DS5. I think DS5 will be more relaxed with this idea than the older two. But I'm sure if they're having a good time they won't worry about Mom so much!

Wow I did not realize that they would do it by themselves. Maybe I will wait a couple years and then try it. thank you everyone for your responses

My boys are 7 and 4 and I booked the one that leaves the Grand Floridian. They are super excited about too.

I booked the Bayou Pirate Cruise from POR for my twin boys (will be 6) in Sept. They are very, very excited!!

Well I wanted to share my pirate cruise pics, but I can't figure how to attache them here....duh...help:confused3

Sounds great! Can't wait to send my sons. Its good to hear recommendations from other moms.

It all depends on your child. You would know better than we would. My DS was 4 when he went. He was a bit nervous at first, but he started playing with the other little "pirates" and practicing their "Argh's", and after a few mins he wanted nothing to do with me, he just wanted to go be a pirate. pirate: When he got back, I asked him how he liked it, and he was like "I LOVED IT!!!!". Aside from the fun my DS had, me and my boyfriend enjoyed a nice breakfast alone. :goodvibes
