Pirate Cruise Shoes

I booked the Pirate Cruise from the Grand Floridian for three of our children during our trip in Sept.
The CM told me that they request that the children wear sneakers on the cruise. I asked about Crocs as that was all I intended to take down for footwear for all of us. She said that some children have showed up in Crocs and haven't been turned away.
My question to those of you out there that may have had children on those cruises, did they wear sneakers or were they given a hard time if they had something else on their feet?

I would just send them in sneakers. Take them down with you. They are kids shoes. They don't take up that much room. Crocs can fall off etc. If they tell you to send them in sneakers there must be a reason.

Okay, anyone with an answer to the original question...now that I have read this I am worried about my 2 DD's. I booked the cruise at CBR and wasn't told anything about sneakers. My girls only wear crocs all summer because sneakers are too hot for their feet..especially in Florida!!! Hope anyone can give some constructive information to help us out.

The only reason I can think of is that maybe the deck gets wet/slippery, and crocs may cause the kids to fall easier than sneakers ??

Crocs were originally made for boating. If they are not worn on the bottoms, they will be fine. I find after about 4 months of heavy wear, the treads disappear. My kids liked the cruise between 5 and 8 years old. Hope they have fun!

My neice wore crocs on the pirate cruise last summer. There was no problem. I'd say put them in crocs!

If they specifically said to put kids in sneakers, then that's what I would do. Perhaps there have been some incidents in the past year causing the rules to be changed. I think I would call again and ask the question just to be sure. If they still say kids have to wear sneakers and may be turned away without them, then I wouldn't take the chance.

My daughter wore her crocs. In fact, I wasn't told anything about shoes one way or the other.

I've just booked this aswell for my girls and wasn't told to put them in sneakers. I was going to send them in Crocs. Its really all they wear. I'm sure if it was a must do, everyone would be told.

When I booked our cruise last spring, I was told they had to wear closed toe shoes. I sent them in tennis shoes, because I knew we were going to be doing ton of walking that day after the cruise and we don't tour the park in anything but tennis shoes. There were a bunch of kids on their cruise that showed up with crocs and flip flops on. They CM's said nothing about it. I don't see how they could get hurt wearing crocs. Flip flops might not give much traction if the boat deck got slippery. I would also hesitate to wear flip flops because the kids did get excited and run all around their ports to find the clues. I wouldn't want my little ones running in flip flops. My kids are so coordinated that I am sure they would have fallen or stubbed every toe. No matter what you decide to put them in, it is a great experience and your little pirate will have a fantastic time!

Thanks for all the responses. Because there are 7 of us flying down (3 adults & 4 children), I'm trying to limit the luggage we take, so there will be less to loose. I didn't want to waste 1/2 a suitcase on footwear that we would only use once.

I know I should do what I'm told, and bring the sneakers, and will probably end up doing that, but just wanted to check what others had experienced.
