I called this morning to make a reservation for the GF Grand Adventures Pirate Cruise for my DD for our upcoming trip. There were no openings at GF for the date I was interested in, but the CRO girl said that there were openings on the new Albatross Pirate Cruise leaving from the YC marina.

I went ahead and booked it, because that's the same day that DH is doing the Segway tour at Epcot, so the location is perfect for us!

I haven't heard anything about the pirate cruise that leaves from YC. Does anyone know more about this? What are there "ports of call", I wonder?

TIA for any information!

Stephanie

Hey, I booked it today also!!! It's still a Pirate Cruise, but I have no idea where it's going, either.

Wow, that's exciting news for people with younger kids. Mine are too old now but did a Pirate's Cruise several years ago and loved it! I'm sure they will make it fun. Anyone with details please post.

PS. You might try posting this question on the resorts board too.

Hi!

I've never heard the Pirate Cruise from YC - I'm hoping to reserve the GF Pirate Cruise for my 3 boys (9,6.5,4) in June.

Have a great time!

disney is now doing two pirate cruises, one from the Gf, and the other from the Yacht Club (disembarks from the lighthouse landing)

According to Deb's site:

The NEW Albatross Treasure Cruise sets sail Wednesdays, 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., for children ages 4 to 10 (must be potty-trained, no pull-ups) from the Yacht and Beach Club Marina. Children wear bandannas, follow clues, and travel to exotic "ports of call" (Crescent Lake and Epcot) to collect treasure. During the voyage, they will enjoy a reading of "The Legend of the Albatross." At the final port of call, children will have lunch and split up the "buried treasure." At least two Cast Members, one of whom is a lifeguard, accompany the group. Cruise costs $28.17 plus tax per child. Disney Vacation Club members get a 10 percent discount. (DVC discount not available on holidays).

I think the Pirate Cruise will be a great experience for our DS8! This will give him some special memories of his own!

I mentioned this event to several friends - being very excited - and they mentioned that they would NEVER let their child be out in a boat with people they didn't know - especially at a theme park!

Is there anyone who has already had children go and can help me get my 'excitement' back!

I don't usually fret about these things - but just want to hear what others have to say!

Thanks

My DS was 5 when he went in December and loved it! (He went on the GF one) There were only about 20 kids and three adult "pirates". (The CM's happened to all be female on his cruise. I don't know if that is all the time or not) All the pirates must be wearing life preservers at all times (even on the land part) They all stuck together as a group. Most of the time they spent was on the pontoon boat which was just for them. Parents are given a beeper, just in case. They don't actually go into any of the theme parks. Except for the 3 adults and kids that were with them, they don't have any contact with other people.

From the GF we were actually able to watch them out on the water a bit and the kids had a blast. I wouldn't be concerned about their safety. They had very strict rules for the kids and the kids all seemed to follow them.

What's a good idea of something to do while you wait for them to do there cruise? Since they both are only two hours long, is that enough time to go back to the park and do anything?

Dh and I just relaxed. We got some breakfast at the GF snack bar and took it outside to eat. Then we walked around the lobby alittle. DH bought his book, I got a newspaper and we found a quiet table to sit. The 2 hours is over before you know it.

What? Relax? :scared1: I guess I could give it a try. DH would probably think someone had taken his DW and replaced her with someone else! :rotfl:

We've booked the pirate cruse for our DD 8.5 and DS 4.5 for our trip in 14 days. They are very excited about it and both DH and I think it's an awesome adventure for them. I worry any time they are not right in my sight but I try not to let that stop them from experiencing life and all it's adventures. DH and I plan to relax and maybe some shopping in the GF while they sail the 7 seas! LOL pirate: :boat:

Thanks for all the information!

I'm looking forward to having a few hours to myself to relax, walk around the Boardwalk, and sit on the beach at YC doing nothing at all. :sunny:

This is great news! We did this at the GF last year, and the kids want to do it again, but I wasn't looking forward to getting to the MK from the BW - this way we can let the kids have their morning at the YC, while we do a little Mission:Space riding.

We will be staying at the OKW - which would be more convenient to get to the GF or YC?

How far in advance are ressie taken?

Thanks!

I talked with a great CM the other night about the new Pirate Cruise. My children love the one at the GF(it is one of their favorite activities). She said this one will be even more exciting because there are only 10 kids on this cruise, so the kids get even more attention. She said that they will actually go into the World Showcase to find clues. We will be doing this for sure on our Dec trip. Right now it is offered only on Wednesdays, but hopefully by then they will have expanded it to more days.

My dd5 loved the GF cruise last month.
I must admit as I saw her sail away,I couldn't quite believe I had sent her away on a boat with a bunch of strangers!..I panicked when I sent her on a school trip to the theatre!-but hey we were on holiday & she had a great time & came back unharmed!

I will send her on th YC one next time...it sounds fab! pirate:
