Can anyone give me info on the 2 pirate cruise options for kids? Price, location, is one better than other...etc.....? I'm thinking of surprising dd7 and ds 5 with one in Sept. Just wondered which was better. TIA!! pirate:

For one thing, dont wait too long to book it. I was unable to get my son into any of them for the last week in Sept. I think with the POTC movie release it became really popular!

I just called yesterday for my mid August trip as I just became aware of this excursion and it was completely booked for my week :guilty: .

Sorry to say but like the pp said, I think they are booked solid for the month of September:( I was able to get my son on the one at POR and it was the last spot for the last week in September. They do them in 3 locations, the GF, POR, and I cannot remember for the life of me where else??? I'm sure someone else will be able to help. I would call and they will tell you all the information and where they are located. You might just want to keep calling every few days to see if someone cancels.

What is the pirate cruise? Has there always been one, or is it a new thing?

TIA

There are three locations for the kids' pirate cruises: GF, BC/YC, and CBR. I can't remember their official names, but the one that leaves from BC/YC is called the Albatross Cruise. There is a Jester's cruise along the similar line that is at POR.

I think that the cruises from GF, BC/YC, and POR can be booked through WDW-DINE. The one from CBR used to be available only by calling the CBR marina. If that is still the case, that may be your best bet, because fewer people will know about it.

I have the Albatross Cruise booked for ds on August 16th, but we've never done one before.

There is a little information to start with here: http://www.wdwinfo.com/just_for_kids/piratecruise.htm

Here is some information from All Ears Net:
The Bayside Marina near the Yacht Club also offers a special Albatross Treasure Cruise for children ages 4-10 -- Children will wear bandannas as they follow clues and sail to many exotic "ports of call" around Crescent Lake and Epcot looking for treasure. During the voyage, children will hear a reading of "The Legend of the Albatross." At the final port of call, children will have lunch of peanut butter and jelly sandwich, cookie, and juice box, and will split up the "buried treasure." Held Wednesdays 9:30 - 11:30 a.m. Children must be potty trained -- no pull-ups. Price is $28.17 plus tax per child. Reservations are recommended. Call 407-WDW-DINE.

Port Orleans Riverside offers the Sassagoula River Adventure Cruise. Children travel along the Sassagoula River to learn the "Jester's" way of life. Along the way they explore the Sassagoula River and finally meet the character known as the Jester. The cruise is held Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. for children ages 4-12. Cost is $28.17 plus tax per child. Call 407-WDW-PLAY to make reservations.

Island of the Caribbean Pirate Adventure - For children ages 4-10 (must be potty trained) -- young adventurers, wearing pirate bandanas, will board a boat to sail the Ports of the Caribbean, just like Captain Jack! They will be told the story of Old Port Royale and of the pirates that used to sail the waters. They will find props and signs leading to treasure. Once they recover the treasure, they will say to Fort Cay and trade for some grub (lunch). When they return to Old Port Royale, they will unlock the treasure chest and bounty will be shared by all. Operates Tuesdays from 9:30am - 11:30am. $28.17 per child pus tax. Lunch: Peanut Butter and Jelly Uncrustables, Gummy Bears, Gold Fish Treats, and Apple Juice Box.

Pirate Adventure - Children wear pirate bandannas and follow clues to search Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon for buried treasure. They sail to many exotic "ports of call" (Resort Marinas) to collect treasure. Children who are potty trained (no pull-ups) and ages 4-12 may attend. Lunch is provided (Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich, Gummy bears, Krispy Treat and Juice box).

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday 9:30 - 11:30 a.m.
Available to all guests. Cost is $28.17 plus tax.
Reservations 180 days in advance at 407-WDW-DINE.

"We did this the last day and it was probably my boys' favorite activity. They get a pirate hat with Mickey ears, available no where else. They load up on a boat with a Jolly Roger flag and go around the lake looking for treasure. I'm not sure exactly what they do because parents don't get to go along. But they come back with a bag full of loot and grinning from ear to ear, saying all kinds of pirate lingo. That's when my boys decided we could just live at the Grand Floridian!" Carie Lackey, 6/03

"We made reservations yesterday and were told tennis shoes (sneakers) and socks were now required for the child." Jennifer, 10/8/03

I just called and got the one at POR for Sept 17..WOO HOO...my kids will be so surprised...Actually I was pretty surprised that there were 2 openings!!! :cheer2:

I just called and got my two sons in the POR cruise for Aug 13th. I, too, was surprised, as the other two cruises were completely booked, as well as the other days for the POR cruise.

We are also going the last week of Sept. I have a res. for the GF for the Pirate Cruise on Monday Sept. 25. I am going to cancel my res. We are staying at PORS and I just booked that one - it's just easier instead of running around trying to get there and eat breakfast!! If anyone is interested, please let me know. And maybe you can get my reservation. :thumbsup2

I'm bumping this thread up to see how the pirate cruises went??? :) We're considering this for our boys next May

We just returned and DS went on the Albatross Cruise out of the YC marina.

He has done the Pirate Cruise out of the GF , three other times and said he liked the Albatross Cruise better. He said they searched for treasure and even chased a Pirate on a boat in the lake. Next year DD will be old enough to go too, then DH and I will have 2 whole hours to ourselves. :teeth:
