I have written my email but I still do not have official notification from disney yet and want to add how long the cancellation was public knowledge for before they bothered to tell me themselves. I think it is absolutely disgusting.

Sounds like a load of rubbish to me. If they had really wanted to hold the parties I'm sure they could have moved events around slightly.

At least they will be offering guests the chance to meet with the princesses in a more private setting but that doesn't compensate for the entertainment, face painting and most importantly for my kids sticker books! I also wonder if this will be just the standard princesses or if the rare characters will be there too?

That was actually one of my main points too. I still have not been able to find an official English notification. It's like they are really doing their best to drive all non French speakers off!

That's what I'd like to know too. I heard Lady Tremaine, Pocahontas and the dwarves, and that was the reason for me to book. No offense against Cinderella and Snow White, but they were really not what made me spend the money.

Me too - the majority of people who had booked these events would surely be 'in the know' about the Castle etc being in the middle of a refurbishment and would have overlooked this.

I do hope the rare ones will be there, otherwise what's the point as you'll still see the usual Princesses etc in the park in the day. I really feel for all of you who have been disappointed.

Thanks, I am trying to look on the bright side and even if it is only the standard princesses there should be much shorter queues than in the park and hopefully also more than one at once.

Absolutely! I have sent a strongly worded (!) email but I think I might send another now, enquiring about what will be on offer in Hurricanes. People who go to these "after hours" events tend to want something extra (which is why we are prepared to spend more money to attend) and I wonder if we could persuade them to put on something that we couldn't get in the park? Some rare characters such as the 7 Dwarfs and Tinker Bell, as you mentioned - that would be some compensation and would make disappointed and disgruntled guests feel they were getting some privileged access. It's worth a try!

By the way on DCP I read that about 20% of the tickets sold were bought on previous visits by guests at City Hall who DLP has no way of contacting - so there will be some people turning up on the night (if they don't read it on the web), possibly in costume, expecting a party! I feel bad for the kiddies (and the CMs who'll have to tell them it's cancelled!!).

I got a reply to my email to disney today. Doesn't really say much. They apologised about me finding out before they notified me and said:

'we are in the process on contacting those who had booked' and money should be refunded within 3 weeks.

They sent a letter about the meet and greet at hurricanes but it said no more than we already know 5-8 on the party day and complimentary drinks are included. I have emailed back to ask for a proper list of characters and how they plan to make sure that only people who booked the party can attend.

I got a phone call yesterday asking me to return my tickets. I sent mine "signed for" and asked them to refund the cost but won't be holding my breath. (I also took photocopies before I sent them!) No reply to my emails yet.
Please let us know if/when you hear any more about the Hurricanes event - I'm crossing my fingers for "rare" characters like we were promised ay the P & P party!

I wasn't asked to return my tickets but I did order mine online to print at home.

I got a call just now asking me to return my tickets.

I did point out that would cost me postage and would they be refunding that too. Lady had to go away and ask only to come back with the suggestion that I enclose a note asking for postage and including a receipt.

I suggested I bring the tickets along and they refund me the amount on the day and they said that was not possible - give me strength

Suffice to say I am not expecting the postage to be paid

I know that people in France have been told that they can claim postage on the return of tickets and have been advised to send them "signed for" (and it has even been mentioned that they might be able to claim for non-refundable hotel rooms, train tickets etc though that's not definite) but when I asked the CM who rang me (who was American) he said not to send them trackable and that the postage could not be refunded. I know they have said they definitely will not refund them in the park - it has to be done by post - in which case they should pay the postage. I've got my proof of posting and live in hope!

But I agree. Their error/decision, postage should be on them.

I did get the same fake aplogy everyone else got. They did make a point in ignoring my question about the characters to appear at Hurricane though.

Not sure if we'll show up now. I almost talked boyfriend into going to the July pin event instead.

On the French DCP forum someone has just posted to say they received a 50% reduction offer in the post today. So not only is DLP completely disorganised, sending out special offers after the parties have been cancelled, but it rather gives the lie to the cause of the cancellation being the prolonged refurbishments (rather than poor sales!!!!)

Just got a reply from my direct question about which characters would be at the meet and greet. It said
'As for the Characters present during the Meet and Greet, the same way we can never confirm which ones will be present during the Meals or Parties, we cannot confirm which ones will be present.'

I find it funny how they were able to confirm exactly which characters would be at the party.

Not sure whether to push this some more or whether I am really not going to get any further

You could always ask how you're supposed to make a decision to cancel your trip or not if you don't know which characters will be there?

I had a call today to say that my credit card would be refunded but nothing was said about sending them my tickets. How do they know who we are when we turn up for the Meet & Greet? Surely having the tickets would prove you're entitled to be there.....otherwise they could let in any Tom, Dick or Harry.

When a CM rang me I asked him exactly that question and he said they'd have a list of names. However I know that on the DCP (French) site people are being asked if they want to have their names put down for the Hurricanes meet 'n' greet and if they say no, but later change their minds, they have to ring back to have their names added to the list. It's all rather worrying!! I've emailed DLP asking them about this and, if I ever get a reply, I'll let you know. Very uninspiring admin I have to say!!

I had a sheet attached to my email with the time and a map of where to find hurricanes. I queried what I would need to get in and they said that would be enough. I'm not sure they are sending them to everyone though so that would suggest there will be no checks about who should/shouldn't be there.
