FYI folks,
the Pirate Adventure/treasure Hunt cruise for kids NO longer includes lunch >:-(
They get a bag of pretzels or goldfish, which seems a little sparse for $36 bucks, but whatever, I'm sure he'll still have fun.

Thanks for the update. I actually decided to cancel this, the other day for our upcoming trip. Now I'm glad I did.

good news for peanut allergy parents however!

LOL, this is what I was going to post! Maybe I can let DS go next time we visit!! Of course, they could have just changed the lunch to something less allergenic and made most everyone happy. . . --Katie

Yes my DS can do it now that the peanut sandwich has gone , but I don't think they removed it for the allergy risk, otherwise they would have just changed it for another type of sandwich. Sounds more like a budget cut :lmao:

I had already decided against this because of time-restraints. I find it disappointing to read about all these fun things, and then have WDW change it before our trip.

I agree that I'm a touch dissapointed about this. First they took away the mickey ear bandannas, now lunch? And yet, as far as I know, the price has not gone down. I have to admit, I'm actually thinking about cancelling at this point.

Does it still run at the same time or did they change that too? Also, do they get a bottle of water or anything to drink?

Please update us with your experience after your son goes. I thought it would be an awesome adventure for my son but now that it doesn't include lunch - I am wondering about the value and would like to hear your experience. Thanks!:thumbsup2

Goodness that is horrible. If it were because of peanut allergies, perhaps the cruises could have been peanut free at one resort and not the other...that way to please everyone. My kids love PB&J!

I am thinking of cancelling as well. What do they get for the money? Is it fun at least?

Bandannas are gone too? Dd did have fun, she didnt care about lunch but that bandanna was a huge hit with her. Interesting that its down to the cruise and a little loot.

Oh really? When I booked last month for this May it included lunch then. That is too bad, my kids were looking forward to that I think. I didn't even know about the Mickey Ear bandana or I would be bummed over that too:eek:. Well, I am going to hope the experience itself is a blast, which I think it will be. My kids can just eat lunch with us when they return.

Thanks for posting....I'll have to talk to DH to see what he thinks, but at this point, I'm considering cancelling. I don't mind paying for "magic" at all, but all of these recent cuts really make it seem like Disney is trying to take the cheap way out. I'd rather pay more to get the same thing, rather than paying more to get less....kinda ticked at the situation at this moment.

DH just booked this last week and they said lunch was included. When did it change? Disney has been trying to cheapen everything lately since people will come anyway. I don't like their new attitude.
I still think DD wil enjoy it, but I hate all the cheapening!

Is it in poor taste to qoute yourself?? Anyway, we did cancel the cruise for DS. Good thing I never told him about it. For me, this was one cut that we just couldn't stomache...I guess looking forward to the bandanna, lunch, and treasure hunt jacked up our expectations a bit to much to be able to reconcile the re-vamped lunchless/bandannaless with the $36 bucks it was going to cost. I would much rather pay $36 and have things stay the same, rather than cutting "extras" and jacking up the price.... But all is not lost. We're going to go to DTD that day, DH and DS will go to Disney Quest again, and I'll get some shopping done. Gonna go hunt down a Dooney!! And, we booked a ressie at T Rex. I think DS will like that just as much as the Pirate cruise he never knew he was booked for!!

DS5 did this last month and she said he got gold fish, rice crispy treat and a juice. He still received a pirate bandanna just not the Mickey ear one. He had a blast and it was something that he could enjoy on in own. For that it was worth it to me. Once he got of the boat he was given a bag of treasure, cheap little toy's but he loved it and still plays with some of it.

I just got back to this thread, sorry for the confusion; they get bandannas, but Mickey Ear ones are long gone (and far cuter ).

Hmmm, that's too bad. I found out about this adventure last night and decided that I'm going to book it for DS. After deciding that, I read a little more and found out the cute mickey ear bandanas the kids were earing are not longer included. Now the whole lunch is gone or just the PJ&J. If they still get crackers, rice crispy treat and a drink, that will be good enough, but the cut backs with the same price tag are kind of frustrating.

we did the pirate cruise last year. It was so worth the money and after a week with the kiddies, the two hours of quiet were wonderful.
