A REALLY silly question--I've read about pins in the Passporter Guide and here and I know that there are pin exchanges and probably other activities with them. What exactly are pins and where do you obtain them?

On the ship, there are pins available for sale on the ship..in one of the main stores. Then every evening..for one hour, the pin cart comes out. Sometimes on this pin cart..there are special limited edition cruise pins being offered. Pins range in price from $6.50 to $15.

Also, depending on the length of your cruise..one or two nights..they offer pin trading with the ships officers. Also..all throughout the cruise..you will see castmembers with lanyards on, you can trade with them as well.

These pins can only be purchased onboard the ship so they are very collectible to people.

Ebay is another excellent place to pick up Disney pins.

All but about 5 of our pins we won or bought off Ebay. Then others we picked up on our cruise last year and at WDW.

It is true..cruise pins can only be purchased on the ship and castaway cay. There are also castaway cay exclusive pins, that are not available on the ship.

You can purchase them on ebay..but, be very, very careful. Watch for bargains..and know what you are willing to pay. A lot of the prices get run way out of control right after a pin is first released.
