Pins stolen at MK

My nine year old daughter put her favorite pink White Sox cap in the bottom of our younger daughter's stroller. It must have fallen out as we walked along. Anyway no one turned it in. It had some pins she bought with her own money. Jessie and Bullseye, the four theme parks, a pin with her name on it, a couple princesses, that kind of stuff. I hope whoever stole it enjoys the fact that they caused a lot of pain to a little kid on her vacation.

Sorry this happened to you. Did you check with lost and found? It would be nice if someone did turn it in to them.

Well ... first of all ... if it fell out of the stroller bottom, someone didn't steal it. Someone picked it up. Whether it's turned in or not remains to be seen. You didn't say when you lost it, how often you'd checked at Lost & Found, or if you left your contact info with them to send it back if they found it.

If you've only checked once, please check again, as new things are turned in constantly. And if Lost & Found doesn't have contact info for you, be sure to give them that too, since if it gets turned in later (by someone who just didn't know where L&F was, for instance, and turned it in to their resort, who then turned it in to main L&F), you want them to be able to find you. Or, rather, your daughter.

You have got to be kidding me! I have been reading these boards for a long time now. I must say that they have increasingly become irrational. Nobody stole the hat and pins....YOU dropped it. If the hat and pins were that important it would have been on someone's head and not at the bottom of a stroller or what have you. I know this is harsh, but everyone needs to take on some personal responsibility. It's not like someone snatched the hat. Someone in your party lost the hat and someone out there may or may not have turned it in. It's unfortunate, but it is not the end of the world.

Yes, we dropped it. It was ultimately our fault. We checked with central lost and found three days running and then they asked for our name and address so they could get in touch with us if it was turned in.

It has been a week and it has not been turned in. Yes, it was our fault we lost it, but if it is not turned in, I consider it stolen. Not to make this a debate subject, but when did it become "finders keepers" in our society?

You should check the park that you think you lost the hat in. You should check the main Lost and Found for all of Disney World.

My daughter has a habit of losing things. She has lost her autograph book, her camera, and just last year, her cell phone. Everything has always been found -- usually at the Central Lost and Found.

I advise everybody to put identification on your property -- even a return mailing address label will help. The camera was not found before we left Florida, but Disney mailed to our home.

My daughter's camera had a goldfish sticker on it from Pepperidge Farm. That's how we identified it.

I know that there are dishonest people out there. But, I believe that most people will return things if they believe that the owner will get them back. Putting you name and address on all your property will help.

Joepoe - I relly do hope that maybe it was turned into a CM and it is just taking a few days to make it to the Lost and Found and get sorted and such. Hope they do find it for you real soon!!!

Sorry your lost item hasn't been returned yet.
You can use this opportunity tho, as an object lesson.
Next time she finds something that might be hard to identify (find its owner) you can remind her....." of that time at Disney when she lost her Sox hat..." and either how sad she was it was never turned in... or.... how happy she was that someone did and she finally got it back.

I would keep calling the park where you lost it. Sometimes it takes a while for lost objects to show up. My Mom lost a camera in AK, and checked later that day, and the next week. 4 weeks later... she checked on a whim, and it was in L&F.

We lost a hat with pins on it, not even sure where we lost it I couldn't find it when we packed up. Although other things my DD misplaced we were able to find again many phone calls and checks with lost & found I wasn't able to find the hat. That is sometimes how it goes.

During our visit in December my DS (9 yrs) accidentally left his lanyard with a lot of pins on it at the race cars in MK. We went to City Hall several times and they checked with the CM's at the race cars and the lost and found. The lanyard was never turned in, but the manager at City Hall was so nice. He took my son by the hand and brought him to the Town Square Exposition Hall where he told my son to pick out replacement pins and a new lanyard. We were absolutely thrilled that someone understood the hearbreak of a child and tried to make it better.

welovemickey - that is such a wonderful story! Joepoe, I agree with you and I know how you feel. We were at the Boardwalk in July for one of the DVC Member Days and it was a madhouse. My 3 little boys had spent our entire 10 days up to that point carefully collecting pressed pennies from every place we visited in the theme parks and resorts and placing them in these little souvenier books we purchased at Epcot. Unfortunately, we had a meltdown at Boardwalk and two of our boys set their books down and never picked them up again. We were all devastated. Those little books were worth no more than 7 or 8 dollars total with the pennies in them but they held some really wonderful memories of places we had seen and things we had done. We left all of our contact #'s with the resort but never saw them again. Still sad about it...They even had their names printed on the outside of each one. I hear what you're saying - someone should have turned that hat in. These simple things really mean something to these kids. It's so easy to lose or forget something at Disneyworld. No one should judge you for that. It happens all the time! Finder's keepers is just ridiculous! We actually left a 1000.00 camcorder at 1900 Park Fare once and it was returned immediately. Go figure....

From the other side. My daughter worked at WDW and found an autograph book in the property store. It had someones name in it. She went and got more autographs and then sent it to the person. She never received a thank you. If someone does do something nice thank them just don't take it for granted.

My Dad entered MGM will his Calloway Golf Hat on, we toured MGM then went to EPCOT and when we returned to the Yacht & Beach Club latter that day he had no idea where it was. We checked lost & found at MGM & EPCOT no hat. So we left our name, resort and home address at both lost & founds and at the main lost & found. On our last day of our visit we recieved a message that the hat was waiting for us in guest services desk.

On another occasion at the end of the day at Universal we returned to our rent a car and found a note saying please see security. My Dad then realized he did not have the keys. He apparently at some point in time dropped the keys and the keys were turned into lost & found and they called the rent a car company and identified our car by some number on the key chain, than the Universal Security people found our car amongst the thousands of cars. It was amazing.

So you never know, the hat may show up in the mail box. Don't loose faith in people by one bad experience.

thanks for all the kind words and encouragement. My daughter learned a hard lesson about keeping track of her things. It just breaks your heart when a little one does something like this (and they all do at one time or another) and there is really nothing you can do about it. It might still turn up!

Several years ago, my DD left her sneakers at the YC. We made several calls, and no one seemed to be able to find them.

Finally, three weeks later, we received a call from lost and found, asking us some questions. They'd found the sneakers, and were shipping them home. They told us that they have a list of lost items, and then a list of items listed as being lost by people, and sometimes it takes a while to match them up.

Good luck! They still may be found!

It is amazing the things we have lost and had turned into lost and found. A coat and our camera (at different times) were both turned in. The one thing that we were not able to recover was my DD's pink lanyard full of pins. We were at the pin station in the CR. She traded with a CM from her stroller (she is 3) and then we took the elevator down to the mainfloor to walk to our room in the wings when I realized she had lost her lanyard. We got back in the same elevator and searched our entire path. None of the CM's at any of the shops had seen it or had it turned in. Gone that quickly. We kept checking with lost and found for the entire week we were there and no luck. We even left our name/number/address. The first time I have felt someone picked up something of mine and kept it at WDW. Very sad for my DD but cheaper to replace than our camera would have been!

Sorry about your DD's loss. I'm thinking there is hope for you because you aren't certain of where it fell out. It could have been turned in and not reached the main lost and found yet. BTW, our camera ended up in the main lost and found not at the Epcot lost and found. They ask very detailed questions to make sure the right person ends up with the correct camera (which I appreciate). Best wishes on getting her hat back.
