Pins or buttons (not sure which is correct)

I keep hearing about these pins. If this is your first time do you get a pin that you wear throughout the park? Is it one pin for all of the parks or a different pin at each new park? What about if you are celebrating something, is there a pin for this? And if so, do you have to be actually celebrating something (example: B-day or anniversary) on that particular day you are there? Hope I am making sense! Thanks

I think you are referring to the buttons (pins) that you wear to the parks when you are celebrating something. (totally different than a PIN code to receive a discount) Correct?

The buttons you wear in the parks come from your hotel if you are staying onsite. If you are offsite you can pick up a button at guest services at the front of the park.
Yes they have specific buttons for things like birthdays, anniversary, honeymoon (just married) and "first" visit.

You can wear your button where ever and when ever you like. You do not have to celebrate on the actually day to be able to wear the button.
(for example birthdays can be celebrated all week or on one specific day up to you.)

Just ask for a button that is appropriate for your celebration, the CM will get it for you.

I hope this helps. Enjoy your trip!

I was told by a CM when I was making plans for my son's birthday in August that she didn't think they were giving birthday pins away anymore. That was something they did for a period of time but to the best of her knowledge, were not anymore. True?? Please tell me that is not so. We went for his birthday a couple years ago and did not get one at that time and I feel certain we could have then and just did not know. So, now that we are going back on his birthday, I would like to do so. We bought a birthday cake WDW hat last time but it would be nice to have the freebie pin/button/whatever you want to call it....big round thing.

We were just there Feb 5-7 and DS got a button for his B-Day at guest services. Saw lots of people in the parks with different buttons (b-day, anniversary, etc.

It is not so. WDW has been giving out free birthday buttons for years and there is no indication that it will stop doing so anytime soon. :)

Do you know if they have graduation celebration buttons? My son and I got birthday buttons when we were there this past November and my daughter and husband got we're celebrating buttons so they wouldn't be left out! My daughter and I are going back the end of May, right after she graduates high school, and I'm hoping they have a special button for that!

For example, if you you've never been to WDW, you can request your First Visit button at the ticket booth.

Thanks for the information! I'll make sure we all get the First Visit Buttons then. Are these only available at the ticket booth, or does the resort give them out when you check-in? And what/where is the ticket boot?

Dani

To get the buttons, I'm pretty sure you have to actually go to Guest Services just inside the entrance of each park(not the ticket booth).

In my experience most resorts also have them, it doesn't hurt to ask there.

Unfortunately they do not have graduation buttons. However, you can get the basic "I'm celebrating" button and use a sharpie to write what you are celebrating in the designated space.

You can get the buttons at your resort and at guest relations (inside AND outside the parks)

We were there Feb 4-10 and I wore my Birthday button every day even though my birthday was the 5th. I got it when I checked in because I had put my celebrations onto my reservation.

Be aware, if you wear these buttons, especially the birthday one, you will get A LOT of attention. I had CMs all over the place singing happy birthday to me, getting the crowd to sing it to me and the characters even "sang" to me.

DH got a First Visit Button and only wore it once and then it sat at the bottom of our suitcase because he hated all of the attention.
