Pins on Planes?

I am leaving for WDW this Friday out of JFK and am very worried about taking them on board because I hear stories of them getting stolen by TSA people. My son keeps telling me it's not a problem because the pin point is barely 1 inch long. Has anyone traveled out of JFK lately with pins on board?

if you have them in your carry-on luggage you won't have anything to worry about

when I have had them in my checked luggage I have always had TSA search my bag. One time they didn't reseal the ziplock back and I had pins everywhere in my luggage. Therefore I no longer keep them in my checked bags.

i cna indeed confirm you that when i went from california to europe again... their was absolutly no prob with my pins in hand luggage...
With the pins i left in my suitcase.... they where controlled but all was fine.

PS prepare for a good search in hand luggage at the controll post... especially if you have a transit...

We always bring our pins in our carry on luggage. Just plan a little extra time for going through security, because they will have to had check your bags. We've actually had the most difficulty getting through the Orlando airport, and you'd think they would be used to it there? Go figure...

Ive always taken them carry on and contained in 1 bag (either ziploc or pin bag) that I put separately though the detector in a silver tray. (Usually actual carry on bag goes first then tray with laptop then tray with pins/shoes/belt etc) because then if they have to search it its not my whole bag... Once I've started this I've never had problems though LAX/MCO/SLC/SNA...

Thanks for all your help. We are in Disney now, and we did carry on our pins and had no touble at the airport. They never opened my carry ons.
