I am flying down in late December and my schedule has it where we will probably have to check in and then book to Epcot in time for the Candlelight Processional ADR so we will not hit our room before the park, and in turn will depend on the transportation service to get our bags to the resort and in turn our room.

My question is, I plan on getting one of those 10th anniversary bags that have the pages in them before I fly out to Orlando, for pin trading in the parks. If I stock it with the pins I already have, can I "carry it on" an airplane or are these items against the FAA rules, so I will have to pack it instead and not be able to pin trade that first night?

We have always taken pins in carry-ons with real no problems.

Actually, Judy and I flew to WDW for Columbus Day Weekend in 2001 when everyone was ultra-paranoid. Judy's rolling case with pins and pin books and pages weighed 35 pounds. The reaction when we went through Security, especially when the X-Ray operator saw all the metal in the case was, to say it nicely, very interesting. We even had some armed guards coming in our direction.

We were taken to a private area and they opened up the case and did a very detailed examination while were were talking with the supervisor. After they were done I repacked the case.

Treatment at Orlando Airport was similar.

By the time we had done a few trips a few of the Security Supervisors at Dulles sort of knew us, and we went through the hand inspeciton every time. The one thing about knowing the supervisors were they were able to warn the X-Ray people not to get upset at her case.

And never had a problem....We have never been stopped or questioned...I think they are very used to it in Orlando

So the Orlando airport is cool with it, but what about airports in other areas. I am flying out of Dulles. Should I call them and ask?

I have flown multiple times with my pin bags along with my pin lanyard packed in my carryon bag and I have never had any problems taking them on the plane. Sometimes when going through security they got looked at and other times they were not looked at, so there is a 50/50 chance of that happening.
