I thought I heard several people mention they bought pins at their local Disney store. When I went yesterday and inquired about them they told me they were only available in the parks????? I wanted to get these for my kids before we left to go there, any ideas how I can get them as my clock is a ticking?

We picked them up at DTD the night we arrived. Had an awesome time trading. It was one of the highlights of our trip!

Pins at DS are a thing of the past. Our store in MI hasn't sold them in quite some time.

Since it's so close to your departure date, you'll have to buy them when you arrive. The store at the airport sells them if you can't wait until you get to your hotel, or you can buy them at your hotel gift shop, DTD, or the parks. (DTD has the best pin store outside of Epcot).

Have you tried calling your hotel and seeing if you can order them over the phone and have them waiting in your room? They may do it and it would be a nice surprise for your kids.

I believe Jane will deliver offsite.

Try www.giftsofalifetime.com

Keep in mind pins run $6-12 each. If ou are offsite, I presume you have a car, you may want to hit the Belz outlet first and pick them up cheaply. (I buy my DD multiple of the same cheap pin, it makes it easier for her to trade as she still has the same pin)

I thought that this pin trading thing would be a fun thing for my girls, until I saw how much the pins cost!! How do you all afford to trade them? You must buy several at a tim! Yikes!:earseek:

We started out with just a couple a piece. It was just plain fun to watch for "something better" on the CM lanyards and to interact with them! We will never be true traders, but had a ball trading!

We did not even know what the pins were until we got there. We actually had some free ones available to us but did not pick them up until half way through the trip since we did not know what they were. My 9 year old would not trade any, he just bought the ones he wanted. they start at $6.50 and I saw them as high as $12.50.

I guess the trading comes in for the most part by people buying $6.50 pins and trading them for thwe higher cost pins. The only problem with this is if the CM does not have the one you want then you either keep the one you bought or trade for something you don't really want.

The easiest way to get started if you don't get pins before getting to the World, is to buy a starter lanyard at any of the stores (they have themes like Princesses, Toy Story, Mickey & Minnie). This will give you two of each pin - I think you get 4 pins total. That way you have 2 to keep and 2 to trade. If I remember right, these cost around $25 - which gives you 4 pins and a lanyard. Great for a kid to start with!

Remember too that CMs don't trade for pins with a name on them - I mention this, because the cheapest pins you can buy at WDW are little ones that have a name.
