Pins in your carryon luggage

Please forgive me if this question has been asked before. I don't often visit these boards but I'm now preparing for a trip and pin trading.

I will be leaving on 12/6 for a WDW trip. I plan to bring some pins for trading but am wondering what the rules are regarding pins in carryon luggage. I'd hate for them to be taken away from me by security but feel uncomfortable about putting them in my checked luggage.

A few years ago I was stopped in one airport because of my pin bag. What happens now?

I just got back from a trip to WDW. On the way out, security inspected my carry on bag, including my pin bag. On the way home, they didn't. I think putting your pins in your carry on is fine.

I had sent my pins to my parents in FL ahead of time, rather than deal with security at JFK on Thanksgiving. In fact, the security people thanked me for not having anything metal in my luggage (or beeping when I went through).

Coming back from Orlando, I had pins in my carryon. My carryons were not even checked, but I did get "wanded". Again, I didn't beep.

Hi All,

I am in California right now. We flew from MD to CA with our pins as carry ons.
We had to open the pin bag and show the security people. They LOVED them and
were showing them off to other security people. We had to open the bag because
the x-ray machine could not make out want was all in the bag. Hope this helps.

If you are flying out of Providence early in the morning be sure to be there 2 hours before your flight departs. We were almost an hour in the security/scan line and they had every machine working. I haven't shown that many people my driver's license in all the years I've had it. Don't get me wrong......this is not a complaint......it was great to see the security.....but the people that said no one is flying.....ought to come here. The airport was packed.

As far as my pins.......I have always gotten stopped both coming and going.......the only difference this time was the guard had to look at every page. He wasn't the chatty type, I think he just wanted to look at them.
