Hi again

I was wondering about how much the pins cost? I realize there are special pins, im not interested in those. Just the average pins I guess... will I realy get a deal buying them first off Ebay?

TIA for any help

If you are wanting to buy the pins at WDW you should look at spending between $6.50 to $8.50 for a rack pin.

Limited Edition pins can start at $8.50 and go as high as $15.00 it just depends on how big they are.

Then they have some really special pins that they came out with this year that are $25.00 each, but if you don't know when they are coming out and where to pick it up, you ain't gonna get one.

Now as for ebay, you should check out two pin sites called: www.pinpics.com and the other is www.dizpins.com they have a pretty good up to date list of what pins are coming out and what there prices are, this way you don't get taken when you shop on ebay.

On ebay, you should look for pin groups (if you are wanting to get some extra pins for trading.) But you really should pay more that $3 to $4 a pin in the group. If you can find groups where you can get them for about $1.00 to $2.00 a piece get it!

Tinker Pixxie,
Just a word of warning - if you get extremely cheap pins (under $2 a pin) on eBay there is a very likely possibility that they might be Sedesma pins. Having just returned from WDW I spoke to several CM's and they said they are getting ready to implement a policy against accepting these pins. Disney has taken this position before and I know alot of people could not trade these pins once they arrived. However, they have been accepting them the last couple of months but you never know when this will stop again.

Normally you can expect to pay at least $3 a pin if you purchase them in a lot of 10 or more. If you have been trading pins for awhile you can sometimes tell by the pictures of the pins if they are the cheaper ones. You kinda have to wonder if you get pins for $1-$1.25, there had to be a reason no one else bid on them.

Hope this doesn't spark a debate but just wanted potential buyers to be aware.

which pins are "real" and which are knock offs? Any tips from pin experts?

If you're going to WDW anytime in the future, we always buy pins at the Character Outlet @Premier Outlet mall. DS loves pins and they are a little older than the ones in the park, but LOTS to choose from and about 1/2 price or less. And, you can trust that they're Disney. He always saves his money to buy a few on vacation. 29 days and counting!

If you want to pin trade definitely buy them ahead of time. From all my checking around $3/piece is the to be expected as a good price on ebay. The bigger lot you but the better the deal. As an earlier poster said if the price sounds to good though they are probably not the right kind of pins. Do a bunch of searches online about pintrading and that will help.

I bought about 20 pins before we went for my DD and cousin. 10 each just wasn't enough!!! We ended up buying many more at the park. When we go in Feb. I hope to have at least 20 each for DD and DS. I know it sounds like a lot but before you know it you won't have any pins left you are willing to trade and then you will want to buy more.

I would suggest buying a lanyard that comes with pins when you get to the park. The Lanyard is nice and comes with 4 pins for trading that are cheaper than buying them individually.

I just checked the four pins I bought ( as a lot) on ebay and the do say "sedesma" or "desma" on the back. They also say "Disney Pixtar" with the copyright symbol. (They are Monsters Inc. pins). Guess I'll have to be more careful when I buy on ebay.

Thanks!

On our last trip, we tried trading pins with CMs and LOVED it. We are ALL hooked - DS3, DS8, DM75, DH48, and me(38)!!!! So, it's definitely fun for the whole family.

I bought a total of 30 pins on ebay and then the first night at WDW, we sat at our table and took turns picking and making some trades with each other. We all swore we weren't going to trade at the parks (we'll just maybe one or two). Well, we all traded most of our pins - it was just so much fun and there are so many cute ones. We all pretty much ended up sticking to a "theme" or two and trading away.

We all bought lanyards at the park, but no one liked wearing them. They have a good deal where a lanyard with 4 pins (for trading) is $25, but we really didn't like the feel of the lanyards on our necks. I ended up keeping the kids in the front of my backpack and my DH and I bought pin HATS. If you're even possibly going to wear a hat - this is a great idea. Buy a pin hat at WDW - you get a few pins and a hat to keep all your pins on.

Oh, ok I was going to pass on my ebay advice. I didn't buy "lots" of pins off of ebay. There were always some in the lot that I just didn't like (and didn't want to be stuck with). What I did was buy off of sellers that had a store or multiple pins up for auction. Most buyers will have free shipping on multiple pin purchases or maybe .25 for additional pins. I found that was a great way to pay an average of $3.15 per pin (incl s&h) and still get Disney pins that I liked.

Well, have fun and keep looking on ebay (just don't bid against me - hee hee).

kimbac3 Id take them with you on vacation and see if the CMs would take them- its hit and miss I believe- some people like them (personally I own 4) others dont but what would it hurt to try

kimbac3 - Definately take them and try to trade them. Even if one CM may tell you no, just say okay, trade another pin and go to another CM and try to trade it. They will all react differently to the pins so at least try, just be prepared and don't give up.:yo-yo: :yo-yo: :yo-yo:

If you're looking on Ebay, check out a seller called lazerranger1491. I have won his auctions and his prices and quality are very good. He also states in his auctions that none of the pins are from Sedesma. I find him to be very reliable and trustworthy. Have a great trip! --H

I will take them. I was trying to get a few to start my kids out with. You guys are right if they trade them that's great....if not..they are still cute! Thanks!
