pins and planes - need help please

We'll be flying to WDW for the first time since our kids took up pin trading. They want to take their pin bags with them because every night in the hotel they like to put the new ones in and decide which ones will be used as traders the next day. I don't want to put them in our luggage (heard lots of stories about things getting stolen) so I was thinking that I could put them in our carrry on bag. I'd also like to have them in the carry on since it'll give them something to look at during the flight. Is this ok or will we get stopped at the security check? If I can't put them in the carry on bag, has anyone had any problems with theirs getting stolen? Thanks!

You can take the pins on the plane. You will not have any problmes. DO NOT put the pins in your checked bags. Like you I have heard many stories.

When you do pack the pins, make sure that they are in a place that can easy be gotten to. Because you will be stopped. They will ask to see what all of that metal is. So make sure you get to the airport, with time to spare.

Some people are now just telling the screeners that they do have Disney Pins in thier bags before they go through the x-ray area. Some have been able to walk on through with out taking the pins out, and some have still been stopped.

I carry my pin bag in my carry on, and when going through security I take it out and put it in one of the bins. I open it so the screener can clearly tell what it is and also let them know that I am travelling with a pin collection. Usually going down ( from the NYC area) the screeners look through all the pages and coming back through MCO they just wave me through. I would definitely agree with other posters....DON't pack a valuable collection in your checked luggage.
