Pinkcow's DCL Wedding 12/8/09..... 1 Year Later!

Aww you look lovely.:goodvibes I can't wait to read more. I am so pleased your special day was all you had hoped it would be.:thumbsup2

Can I ask, did DCL provide the flower in your hair? I want my hair down and simple but I would like a flower in my hair too.:goodvibes

Thank you! DCL did provide the flower for my hair. I had the tropical bouquet and simply asked that the hair flower match the bouquet. The flower is almost identical to the boutonnieres the guys had. I was happy with it! I also had a hair clip I bought from Target. The clip had green stones that were the same color as my ring, and had some sparkle to it!

Bye Shannon!! Have a great time!!!

Have a blast! Can't wait to hear all about it!!!

Have a Magical Wedding!!

Wow! I can't believe it's your day! Have a great time!

Happy Wedding Day!!

Happy Wedding Day!!!!

Happy wedding day!!

Need pics!

I am so glad you had an amazing time. Ours was magical too! Imran was a prince to work with. We loved him. Hope you did too!

Start your tr soon. I want to hear all about it! Happy belated wedding day and happy honeymoon!

Thank you ladies so much!!!!!!!! :goodvibes It was a truly magical day!

I didn't see you in the parking lot - so here's a long distance high 5!

Have fun on your trip and have a magical wedding!

Here's a high five right back at you!! We were incredibly late getting to port; getting our family together so we could get over there was like herding cats!! I'm sorry I didn't get to see you.

glad you had a great time....can't wait for the TR and to see more pics!! Imran told me you said to say hi! That was soo cool....i think he was a little freaked out by me you and Tanya all knowing each other! :rotfl: I kept asking how your and Tanya's day went! :cool1:

Before I start the official TR, I just wanted to express how great our wedding really was.

We had our doubts with the cruise wedding, particularly with the bumpiness of planning, and the financial stability of our guests. I was particularly sick when we found out that an Escape wedding now had the ability to have 25 guests for an additional fee and also the inclusion of new Canada Pavilion location.

Before the cruise I was at the Grand Floridian with the ladies and saw an Escape bride. I was absolutely kicking myself. DH could not even look at the Wedding Pavilion.

In the end, Imran the onboard wedding coordinator was absolutely wonderful. He was on top of everything and really did his best to make things perfect for us. The entire onboard staff was incredible. All of our guests commented on how great the cruise was, many of whom said it was the best wedding they had ever been to. Some even told us it was also the best vacation they ever had. We have a pretty truthful group who are not afraid to speak up when they don't like something.

For us, it was the best 10 days of our lives period. It was an experience we will never forget, and would not change a thing about it.

Imran seemed a little shocked when I asked him to send our congrats to you guys! The power of the interweb! :rotfl: I asked about Tanya as well!

I was the SAME WAY! I was even thinking the week of the cruise that I should cancel the VR and just lose the money and switch to an escape wedding at the pavillion. But then we had our trip and it was AMAZING! We had such a good time, plus my family wasn't there to drink and fight! :lmao: I am so glad we didn't switch. I am also excited that you also had an amazing time!!! :thumbsup2

Awww...Thanks! I wanted to leave behind some of my decorations to see if you guys could use them b/c I no longer needed them. But he told me that they usually will just throw it away. Boo! :headache: They ended up getting trashed on the way home. My mickey topiaries made it okay, but the rest are gone-ers.

I told him to tell you guys hi! But he thought I was crazy! I told him that I really knew you guys from the boards, but I don't think he believed me.

I LOVE YOUR MICKEY PIC! So jealous! Looks like you had a great time.

Congratulations!!

We didn't get to see you on the beach, but saw you guys riding by on a golf cart. It was a perfect day for a wedding.

I am glad you had a great day love the pictures cant wait to see more!!

Congratulations! :cool1: You look beautiful! Can't wait to see more pictures!

Glad to see I wasn't feeling alone!! We really could not have picked a better way to get married! Beyond the service of everyone onboard, we had our family cornered for a full four days! Ha! If we had an Escape wedding we would have seen them for a few hours tops, so it was nice to have everyone around. I was really concerned about drama, but it turned out to be the total opposite!

That's too bad not everything made it back, poohy!

We really did have a great time! :thumbsup2

Congratulations!!

Yes, we had the "Just Married Mobile"! LOL I couldn't have asked for better weather! :goodvibes

The TR begins!

Day one started early, about 5am. This was all about both of us trying to get caught up with work. I left the office at noon, but the work didn't end until about 3:30. Beyond that it was a crazy amount of running around and making sure we had everything we needed. DH got home at about 5, and we made a mad dash for the light rail.

Our flight was supposed to leave at 6:55, but didn't wind up taking off until about 8:30. After it needed to be de-iced... :scared1: Par for the course for living in Minnesota!

Here's DH hanging out at MSP with his Mickey ears on-

We got into MCO after midnight, gathered our bags and headed towards the rental agency. The whole car rental process after waiting in line and doing all of the paperwork took an hour! :sad2: Now, my stellar research skills got us a car for rent-a-wreck pricing. What I wasn't expecting was a real wreck!

Here's me with the PT Cruiser, aka "The Dolorian". We called it The Dolorian 'cause when we gunned it to 88, the car shaked like it was entering a new time-space continuum!

002.jpg

At one point the driver's side door also stopped working!

But on with the trip! By the time we actually got into our room at Coronado Springs it was 2:15 am.

Alarms were set for 5:45 to make it to ABC's Christmas Day Parade!

Ah yes, 5:45 am. In a normal circumstance I would be pretty cranky with all of 3 hours of sleep, but we were at the happiest place on earth, baby!

We hopped in The Dolorian and hot footed it over to MK! We had 7:00 tickets for ABC's Christmas Day Parade taping. The tickets stated that we would be taken in small groups to learn a simple dance routine for the opening number of the parade.

Let's take this back to the year 2003.. At that time I was a CM, and on a whim one day decided to audition for Disney Entertainment. Disney "tried" to teach me a simple dance routine. Let's just say that day will live in infamy in my mind as the day I discovered I had not two left feet, but three! And, as it be, my name was one of the first to get cut! So, needless to say I was a bit concerned about this whole portion of the day...

We got to MK and and were corralled to an area underneath the train station. There were PA's and cameras abound. Then it started to downpour. Everyone seemed to be scurrying about. A bit later DH noted that it looked like they were taking apart the castle stage. Ugh. Here's a pic from under the train station-

After a bit of time the ropes were dropped and people started wandering about. We decided to take a tour, grabbed some rain gear and headed out. But we couldn't get very far. Most people were in the vicinity of Cosmic Ray's, and it wasn't long before we got the news that parade taping for the day had been cancelled. The good news was we could stay in the park if we wanted! :cool1: They were handing out replacement tickets for Sunday, but we were getting on the cruise that day, so no go.

I was relieved I would not make a fool out of myself by dancing on national television, but disappointed we were not able to be part of the production. We learned later that the acts for that day were going to be the Jonas Bros. and Celine Dion. We don't have much interest in either act, but it still would have been exciting to take part. We got over that pretty quickly as we had an entire day in MK for FREE! :woohoo:

Here's the Castle Stage shortly before the announcement-

I'm so glad you guys had a great time!! While we enjoyed the VR and thought Imran was great.....we were disappointed in the DCL service. My guests were too. I don't know if it's because we are so used to the level of service we normally get, but this cruise fell very short of our expectations. Our waiters in the dining room were down right RUDE on morning and they were off sync and not at all aware of our needs. the room steward CALLED US ON THE PHONE and wanted to know when we would put the luggage out. He was a bit put out when i told him Concierge told us we could wait until midnight and he would still collect it. Housekeeping was told NOT to deliver strawberries to the room as we had an allergy...and yet we had a tray full of strawberries when we returned from Palo. I also thought the food quality was pretty low. Overall, we just didn't think DCL was worth the extra money we paid.

Pink Cow!!!! CONGRATS, Im also getting married on Castaway next November, i cannot wait to see your photos. Please email me at littlemuchi@hotmail.com. Id like to ask you some questions about the wedding. Thanks! :)

Great start to your TR.:thumbsup2

Shame about the weather at MK though.

Can't wait to hear more about your wedding! I am so excited about mine and cannot wait!:banana::banana::banana::banana:

I'm so so sorry you were disappointed. We really had a different experience altogether. Our server, Tumielo, was beyond good, our steward was great. We didn't eat in Palo at all, but thought the food in the dining room was very good. Only one of our guests had a complaint, and that was she would rather have had a casino and more "Las Vegas" type shows, but overall she was content. I've been on one other cruise, and this one was ten fold better. I wouldn't hesitate to go on another DCL cruise. Again, I'm really very sorry it didn't live up to your expections.

Thanks! I'll try to be as detailed as possible for you future brides!! :thumbsup2

After it was announced the parade taping was cancelled, we had some time to kill before the park opened for the day. Since everyone was in Tomorrowland, we tried to get to fantasyland for the first ride on "It's a Small World", DF's absolute fav. It took a bit of waiting, but we were the first people on! Yay! All of the CM's were very congratulatory on the wedding. :goodvibes

We hit up every ride we wanted (with the exception of Space Mountain) in no time flat!

Here's DH at Pecos Bill for lunch-

I had figured that the bride headband and groom hat would be cumbersome and eventually get uncomfortable so I had Mickey Santa hats embroidered with "Bride" and "Groom". This turned out to be an excellent option!

By about 4:30 we were tired, wet, and about to crash, so it was bye bye MK for the day! We headed to Goodings Supermarket to stock up on supplies. Goodings is in the Crossroads plaza outside the gate near Downtown Disney. It's a bit overpriced, but you can't beat the location. Try their cookies and cakes! They are to die for! When I was a CM I used to stop there all the time and get a piece of cake for dinner! :rotfl: This time I couldn't resist some awesome chocolate chip cookies!

For dinner we hit up the Pepper Market at Coronado, also a bit overpriced, but still decent.

You and your DH are sooo cute! I love the pics. Bummer about the rain that day, but any day in the MK is great. It's even better when it is free.

The santa mickey hat is such a good idea. Why didn't I think of that. I forced DH to wear the groom ears everywhere. We got loads of attention and little treats, which I loved, but I don't think he was too keen on it. :rotfl:
